They're reasonably fun here in Canada, no purple required.  The frustrating part is just waiting for Netfile to open so I can pull the couple of documents I know I've missed (usually T5's, aka reports of interest earned in pesronal accounts), and then fire my tax return in.

Plus side though ohhhh boy I can't wait to get that refund.  Suppose I should finish moving things around in the living room so I have somewhere to actually put the 350mm Voron 2.4 that's on hold with a local vendor...

And done!

With the online filling-out and filing system nowadays, mine isn't really that bad. Took 1 hour 29 minutes according to TurboTax.

My returns are very complicated. I've got multiple investment accounts, and my wife runs a craft hobby/business. It's her hobby but the IRS considers it a business because of how much she makes. So we've got the home office deduction. Add in the education credits and expenses along with the kids' 529 education funds, plus now I get royalties from my great-grandfather's farm and a little patch of Oklahoma land that my grandparents bought to help out an old lady, and it gets even more complicated. The last time I filled out my own taxes using just the forms downloaded from the IRS took me NINE hours. That was not a fun Saturday.

But, refunds from both Federal and State this year, which will pay for both ReaperCon and our annual family trip to New Mexico. Last year I had to pay for the state taxes, so this year is a happier time.

And so it begins:

just mocking a couple things up for the moment.

I'm loosely basing the layout of the buildings and such in the area on Mare Island that I was stationed at, only with the train tracks where the pier for the tugboat were. I think that will help me figure out the tiny details that will make the scene more realistic.

As for the barrier, I think I've decided on a double run of chain link fence, just wide enough for a vehicle to run between them, which will give me an opportunity to use a CAV:SO wheeled vehicle,  and maybe even do a micro scene with some soldiers and a guard dog inspecting the fence.

So, learned that my back, which I've been very happy with and have been making great progress with, was really not ready for a 3 round, 8 hour Bolt Action tournament.  Boy, was it worn out by the time I got home.....
On the plus side, my dice actually rolled somewhere approaching average for a change, so I came in 2nd!!

I think tomorrow, er....post sleep today.... will be a take it easy on my back by watching lots of cars go roundy-round on the the TV.  Have to wait until March to watch "real" racing, where they turn in both directions.

Although Drive to Survive starts up on Netflix again next weekend.  So I can learn about all the "F1 drama" from last year....

So, I was de-sprueing some of the bits that I got yesterday, and everything was progressing well until I got to all the Khorne stuff ( BLOOD FOR THGE BLOOD GOD!) when I dropped a piece. Luckily, I as able to observe the descent, so I saw where it landed. The piece in question was a skull with a spike through it, and as I grabbed it off the floor, I learned that that spike was SHARP! It jabbed me in the thumb and stayed there until I removed it, whereupon it started bleeding.

Blood for the blood god indeed.
