I came up with the question of what I would do for a spaceship that I would be on for five years. Alone. No issues with food, water, or air. The ship would be sound for the voyage. But what amenities would I have without space limitations? Like, movie theaters, biome rooms (mountains, beaches, city), walking paths through forested areas. That sort of thing. Swimming pools. Japanese onsens. My brain is worried that I’m missing something. The past couple of nights while trying to fall asleep, I thought of hobby rooms and machine shops. I thought of simulators like a driving simulator, so I can “go somewhere“, where I would have to “drive” the actual time and path. Even going as far as an airline seat sim in case it’s “faster” to fly. I’ve considered different bedrooms and some that maybe look like hotel rooms just to add some variety to where I can “go” again, with years of recorded footage to project into the window. My subconscious self is planning it out as if this was real. It’s led to a couple of panicked awakenings during the night. Because I am stuck at what else to add. Five years is a long time to suddenly realize a month into the voyage that you’d like to go sit by a river, even if it was a fake one, but didn’t include it in the build. Or a diner booth with a jukebox. I imagine that having any replicated home I lived in would be psychologically devastating due to the emptiness. Any homesickness would just get amplified. So those are out. Add in that I feel a real need to be able to be dropped anywhere in the galaxy and by using Andromeda and some other waypoints, be able to find my way back home, and I start to worry about my subconscious. You mention the jacked up trucks. A lot of those "lifted" vehicles are jacked up to the point where the position of the headlights is higher than the {US} federal specification for headlight height. The relevant specification is: "Not less than 22 inches (55.9 cm) nor more than 54 inches (137.2 cm)" for the filament of both the low and high beam. If you need to save some space, section it by continent with some ocean margin and leave out most of the 70% that is ocean. Having been "given" the opportunity to sail the Pacific Waters to the South China Sea and back I have observed that most of the water, most of the time, looks pretty much the same, with the chief differentiating factor being what the weather is like, I..E. I have often wondered why the lamps are not installed at the back end of headlight “tunnels” so that the output can only go where it is supposed to. Solved the bright light problem long ago. Car-to-car missiles. Funding and legal clearances are the only roadblocks to that solution. As for the ship, I think I will have to do a layout and CAD model, followed by a print job for a desk model. Thinking it may wind up looking like the USS Cygnus.
