OMG...

Currently arguing with a customer about ~$800 in credit card transactions.   This is part of that big processor issue from the weekend.

Anyway, this guy wants to be paid for transactions that were recorded in his system, but for which the system errored out, and the customer was not given a wash.

Now I can see how he might not have understood the various flags and that he needed an explanation, but I've now explained it to him three times, and he's still not understanding that he's not supposed to be paid for those transactions. You don't charge someone for something they didn't get, even if the system still has their transaction data in the buffer.

All he is seeing is eight hundred dollars! and not listening.  He just wants to be paid for them before the data is flushed from the buffer.

I have half a mind to manually delete the buffer and say "oops, too late."  But that could cause other issues if we need to look up a valid transaction.

Sounds like it's time to hand him and his lack of comprehension off to the Credit Card Processor so they can explain to him, hopefully via their legal department, what constitutes Credit Card Fraud and how he is attempting to perpetrate that particular crime.

The way I see it, the system Fail-Safes functioned correctly and kept this customer out of the deep pile of trouble he is trying so desperately to wade into.

He finally got it, and then changed his tune. Now he wants to know who's going to compensate him for the lost business these transactions represent.

I told him to talk to the processor.  Cause that's the point I've been trying to make with them the last three times.

It appears this is going to require a very special tool in order to correctly accomplish the instructions:

There are applications for Reaper Paints in the Model Railroad Hobby, something I am considering for my next [sometime in the nebulous future] model railroad structure building project.

I personally find it of note the number of miniatures painters [on this forum] who  also have an interest in model trains.

Back in... 1991(?) a friend of mine who did S gauge railroad modeling picked up a bunch of S gauge deep ones, and modeled the Innsmouth branch of the B&M railroad. Reviresco for the figures, I think. Both cardstock models for the boats as well as metal for the fishmen from the same company, don't know if Reviresco is still around.

I'm sure there are persons who will, for a small fee, carry out the instructions as written.  😄

For those who don't follow the Twitch broadcasts, Reapercon badges are supposed to go on sale at the end of the month.  No VIP badge this year, only 4-day, 2-day, etc.  Meet&Greet probably at hotel under a separate ticket.  Swag bags available to con attendees (may be leftovers after the con) and swag boxes with different stuff on sale on the web.  No details on what's in them yet.  Volunteer, teacher and vendor info coming soon.
