Jasper_the_2nd
So first day back to work since November. Friday I found out that due to network/security changes while I was out they were unable to connect my laptop to the domain (after 4 days of them trying) and staged me a new laptop. By "staged" they mean it can connect to Outlook and Teams. It has none of the software we actually use. It has none of my data or setup since they haven't pulled my old hard drive yet or mounted it where I can access it. So first day back, only in for 4 hours. Have no access to anything useful until I get things installed. But at least I have 17000+ unread emails (that made it through my filters into my inbox) and a bunch of overdue HR tasks to keep me busy. Sigh. 1

Same thing happened to DH, only there was no office furniture -- had all been returned to the leasing company. Last week they had a meeting about having everyone return to the office (right now they are doing one day a week, and there is still a lack of desks and chairs, etc) but they are delaying it right now because all the owners/upper mgmt came down with COVID. 1 1

I was thinking that sounds like a frogcident incoming. So I set off a brocolli storm on Saturday. Once again, one of our credit card service providers did an update on Friday night that knocked a bunch of our sites offline. I wound up working 2 hours on Saturday to get sites back online because it would have taken 10-16 hours if I had waited until today to get started (due to the number of transactions I would have to fix). Sent an email to our reps with that company informing them of our intention to sever our relationship with them. Got a call from one of the reps (who is absolutely my favorite vendor rep of all that I work with) this morning to discuss the situation. My notice got the attention of their senior management to look into the problem, so he both begged me to give him some time and acknowledged that I have to do what I have to do for our customers. Hopefully the notice I sent gives him the ammunition he needs to get people to pay attention and come up with some sort of fix. 9
kristof65
So those of you who are Gundam aficionados. I bought a 1/144th scale Bandai figure set to use as ground crew for my T-Trak Module with the CAVs, Most of the figures will work in some fashion, but I can't for the life of me figure out the intention of these two figures: Are they supposed to be flying or something?

Smartass: they're the window washers Not smartass: my guess is holding on to something - a cart, a crate they're moving, or the moving handrail thingies on gundam decks and hallways to help people move from point to point without having to worry about slowing down. Both could probably be repurposed to be working on something above their heads. Edited March 27 by WhiteWulfe 5
lowlylowlycook
Apparently the water pump in my washing machine needs replacing and ignoring the weird noises it was making wasn't the proper remediation. Watched an Australian video about repairing a very similar looking washer of the same make which convinced me that the repair will be easy enough. Only after ordering the pump did I notice that despite the access to the filter being exactly the same there isn't the same access panel that he used to get to the pump. I guess I get to take the whole of this thing apart to reach the pump and the video I found recommends a special tool help put the seal back on. It's not expensive but I'm a bit against having one use tools that I hope to never use again. At least I know this thing has a filter that should be cleaned now. ---------------------------------- 33 minutes ago, kristof65 said: So those of you who are Gundam aficionados. I don't think I've ever watched a Gundam but I want to say that they are bumping fists to release their special power. In some they're physical handles that pop out and run along a track, but in newer ones it's just a touch strip the put their hand against and it pulls them along. Any fix needs to include the stipulation that no updates get done between Friday and Monday Morning and anyone implementing an update after 10: 00 PM Thursday Night will be suspended for up to two weeks without pay, OR have to reimburse all the customers and other hardware/software providers out of their own pocket who have to work OT to fix what they just screwed up.
