Maybe soup was what they were trying for 4000 years ago when they invented beer.

I see it now. Those could be wings. It also better explains the goggles, headgear, and radio headsets both ladies are wearing.

Which begs the question: “if this is the future! where is my flying car !!

Several are actually invented, tested etc.

Some are more giant drones while others do resemble a flying car.

If you're very very rich you can already buy one.

Now to wait for it to hit the common market, that will take a lot of time I guess.

For most of you it is the 25th of May.

For some of us it is The Glorious 25th of May.

Me (to customer): You're having that problem because of X*.  If you do Y, it should resolve X.
Customer: But I don't understand why I have to do Y.  Can't we do Z to fix it?

Me: Explains in great detail what causes problem X, and how Y will resolve it, then explains that Z is possible, but also explains that not only is Z not the best solution here, Z has to be done by a tech and will take a couple of hours of billable time, whereas Y is something they can do themselves without being charged a thing.

Customer: I think we'd rather you do Z.

Me: explains again why in this instance Y is better than Z at resolving X, then tells them if they insist on paying me to do it, I'm just going to do Y and charge them for Y.

That's a summary of the conversations I've been having with this customer for the last month. I'm waiting for their whiney reply to my latest email.

*in case you wonder what X, Y & Z are:

Spoiler

Our system has these things called Cleaning Accounts.   These are a special type of internal fleet account that are intended for use by employees/managers/owners to do things like clean self serve bays, or give employees free washes.  They're just like any other fleet account/wash card on the system, EXCEPT their usage doesn't show up on the system reports so that they don't get inadvertently counted as income. They do have reports, allowing them to be tracked and written off as expenses, but these reports have to be run separately, and then the balances reset back to 0.

No fleet accounts are intended to have a balance of over $9999.00, and fleet accounts used for site customers rarely exceed a few hundred dollars.   If we see cleaning accounts getting near the $10k mark, we'll start telling the site they need to run the reports and reset the balances.  The accounts balances themselves can go over $10,000, but when they get that high, they can start doing funny things at the other various pieces of equipment - for example, on one of our automatic wash tellers, if the display tries to show a balance of more than 9999.99, it causes a variable overflow and the teller locks up. The engineer is aware of this bug, but since it only shows up when a fleet balance gets too high, he hasn't bothered to fix it, since 99.999% of accounts will never get to that balance, and the only ones that do are site cleaning accounts that aren't being properly maintained.

Anyway, I've never dealt with this particular Canadian customer before, until it was referred to me for doing some weird things no one had ever seen before.   First thing I notice when I log in is that they have multiple cleaning accounts with balances of over $100k.  A hundred thousand dollars.  The highest I had seen up until that point is $17k.  I have no freaking clue what issues 6 digit balances will cause, but I know it isn't good.  And based on the weird problems they're having, I believe I'm correct.

Solution Y to the problem is to simply delete the accounts, and recreate them.  Solution Z is to use the adjustment command to fix the balances.  The problem with the adjustment command is it can only adjust a balance by no more than $1k - its intended to fix little mistakes, like accidently typing in 500 instead of 50 when adding a balance to a gift card.   So I would literally have to run the adjustment 100-125 times on each of half dozen accounts.

Yeah, I could just apply the Y fix myself, but I'm being a jerk and trying to force them to do it, in the hopes it will drive home why they have to do proper cleaning account maintenance.

My guess is they'll start whining to the service manager, and he'll just do the fix to shut them up, and in 3-4 years, we'll have the same problem.

I'd suggest to them that not doing Y could cause accounting errors that will translate into Tax Problems their accountant won't be able to correct.

Doing Z to correct what should be corrected by doing Y could send up Red Flags that in case of an audit would be extremely expensive.

Good Luck
