Just dropped my boy off at the base gate for the last time this visit.   Didn't get to see him as much as we would have liked the five days we've been here (he's had duty and such), but it was really nice to just spend time with him (and see him spend time with his little sister).

Tomorrow we're off to NorCal, driving down the coast.

I hope the Avenue of The Giants is on your itinerary, and possible [if it's still there] the Samoa cookhouse.

The Samoa cookhouse is [was, been a long time since I/we have been through that part of the country] a one price menu restaurant where they serve the sort of food, in the sort of quantities, that lumberjacks would eat every day.

If you have time, the Skunk Train between Fort Bragg and Willets is worthwhile.

It's a long held debate that will never end, the "are dry Mr Noodles with the flavour pouch added a snack?", and I'm on the it's a delicious snack side myself...

Turns out crows agree with me, at least this one anyways.

Though I moved away 2 years ago, the last town I lived in has been evacuated (along with several others) due to forest fires. 🌳🔥☁️

It,s pretty bad. The fires are only a few kilometers from my old home. Luckily, the town is mostly surrounded by a lake and the winds are blowing mostly away from it, but the flames could be seen from a distance, and the smoke makes it unlivable. The mine I used to work at on the other hand, though it closed 3 years ago, is very much within the fire zone.

Had I still lived in that area, I would be currently in a shelter and probably out of work. Some of my old colleagues may be going through this very situation right now.

I've seen a few "It can't be that easy" videos here lately using the air sweeper nozzle pressed against the joint to seperate those buckets, appearantly it works really well, though at the moment I don't have two buckets stuck together, or an air compressor that isn't one of the little lighter socket powered jobs that take ten minutes to air up a tire.....

I once made up one of those yellow window signs that read "Soccer Mom In Trunk"...
