Have fun in the Netherlands!

I don't know what your travel plan is, but if you like theme parks do visit  De Efteling! ( it's in Kaatsheuvel, far from Amsterdam though)

In Amsterdam there's a great Zoo called Artis.

Thank you! I think we're only going to be in Amsterdam for a few days then over to Rotterdam to catch the boat. If we have some down time I'll push for us to check it out.

If he keeps going that way he might get to number one eventually...

For AC equipment that's equivalent to the second step of IT diagnostics ("are you absolutely sure it's plugged in?") without directly calling out their stupidity.

For a lot of things, not just AC this involves checking the breaker panel for tripped circuit breakers.  For fused circuits, check the fuses, and not just a Mark One eyeball check but use a meter.  I've encountered glass envelope fuses where the fuse has opened close enough to the end to look good on a visual check.

I'm not saying that those further checks aren't needed. Just that they come after step 2. I've heard of some IT support people using similar methods to make sure it's plugged in without specifically calling it out. Like turning the ethernet cable around the other way, or shaking the stuck messages out of the ethernet cable then plugging it back in.

Your basic AC power circuit is easy.

It's when you get on the output side of a "Power Supply" things get "entertaining", either AC or DC.

And with the proliferation of microprocessor controlled systems into almost everything, the ability to troubleshoot power supply problems becomes ever more important.

@SparrowMarie I was born and raised in Rotterdam

Visiting spots:

The Zoo - Blijdorp.

The Euromast ( a lookout tower that gives a great view over the whole city and harbour, plus a restaurant inside)

Rotterdam has "de Koopgoot" a shopping lane mall system partly undergound

Many Museums as well.

Rotterdam Zuidplein also is a nice shopping centre.

Have fun

So, I don't have a lot of places to share this, but I know the folks here will appreciate this.

A few months ago, I decided to start corrupting teaching some friends to play minis games. I've been trying for a while now, but my friend's teenager was interested to learn, so we played a few games. After that, the dad was interested, so we started a campaign using a minis game I hacked/fixed. I offhandedly mentioned that the original game was designed for old 40k boards (6'x4') and they're turning their garage into an apartment for another friend. The last time we got together, they had made a 6'x4' board, even painting it up. Yesterday, we had a bit of a hobby day, where we were originally planning to use some of the five pounds of sand I have and put it down on the board. Sadly, the weather was off and they hadn't had a chance to pick up the glue, so we just hung out and put some sand on some terrain I've been working on and put together some more pieces of terrain. It was nice.

Now, we just need another player, because three-player games get unbalanced really quickly...
