My favorite Catia=French revelation was for surfacing. The negative side of the surface was blue and the positive side was red. That seems wrong until one lays an x axis on the French flag with zero in the middle white striped. Blue on the left (negative) and red on the right (positive) side.

Dang! I haven't seen Catia in nearly 20 years. I never even realized they were French.

Despite that, I probably still would've used it in English. French technical terminology is sometimes very different than what this French-Canadian is used to.

This goes for games too. RPGs, videogames, board games.

Nope! Errors with no explanation suck.

I once managed to get our CAD software to throw an error that was in French. Dassault (the software company) was stunned. That wasn’t supposed to be an error message that anybody other than the programmers in a defined test environment should get.

I learned some interesting Polish profanity that way in my first QA job.

I don't think I'll ever get used to living in Texas.  The temperature being 66 degrees f  two weeks before Christmas is unnatural.

It is, but When my Texan Brother-in law would host christmas, I loved going running most mornings.  I don't run at below  zero (Celsius or Fahrenheit)

Well, it looks like this year Santa is bringing me a new auto battery, a pair of new struts, new brakes, and some other fun accessories for the car.  Yay.

HOPEFULLY, Santa's bringing us a 'covered by warranty' invoice for my wife's car...   Driving home last night, the ECM module on the transmission just decided that it's wasn't going to.  It'd shift into park, reverse, and drive. but once in drive, it stayed in first gear, period.  even when put into that weird, gear-shift-only electronic 'manual' mode that they put on a lot of cars these days.

2021 Kia with not quite 30k miles on it, so it should be covered...

Am I the only one who actually finds it MORE frustrating when something fails without throwing an error?

Nope.  WAAAY worse than an error, at least with an error I have a starting point for the failure and don't have to debug through a few thousand lines of code to find where it starts...

The only thing more frustrating than not throwing an error is when you're doing tech support and the customer fails to accurately note the error message/code.

Soooo much this.  customer: It keeps doing this!, Fix it!.  Me: Can you show me how you're doing it?  Customer: NO!  but it keeps happening so you need to fix it. Me: I've been trying to make it happen, and have covered over 50 cases without seeing the error you describe.    Customer: Well that's not my problem, you need to fix it!

I mean, I get the customer's frustration, but when the user with the error can offer no insight on the chain of events that lead up to the error it makes it VERY difficult to resolve, and I can only spend so much time on each complaint trying to discover reproduction steps....

Yup.  High of 70 today with active tornado watch, Friday has a high of o nly 49 and continuing to fall to high of only 31 on Thursday the 22nd.
50/50 odds the high on christmas day is 75....

Especially when you're missing a critical step.  And even more so when you finally learn what the missing step is, and it's something someone is doing that makes you go WTF?! why would anyone even do that?

I should use this in my holiday game, since the party does have the opp to rescue children that Krampus has taken.......Boy are they in for a surprise if they do!

Well, thanks to @Glitterwolf showing off that pic of the horned wolves, I've decided to put actual miniatures into my holiday game vs just numbered bases. I think I will still use the bases for the fodder encounters (aka dark elves) as the party will be 10th level. No sense in trying to round up a bunch of those. Thou, I did order a bunch of dark elf minis in my recent Reaper order, I think I'll use some of those for named dark elves in the adventure.

Picked up the wolves, along with a couple of packs of Twin Goddess minis (Christmas goblins & Fantasy College #2) today so I better get printing so I can have everything ready for next Weds night (21st). The TG packs were bought due to a Tribes member 70% off code. You gotta love that!

Also placed a order for a prepainted dire troll from my favorite singles seller on bay of E as well. I figured it was a huge base troll & it's freaky looking so it'll work for the undead troll. I guess it depends on when it gets here, if I'll try & turn it into a shadow or not. Oddly, the prepainted single price is cheaper then the Unpainted miniature. I'm currently printing up a new Krampus miniature as the previous one I printed broke at his ankles. Eh, no worries there as it was printed on a older printer.

Speaking of my holiday game, I was worried about my work schedule up to Christmas this year as it usually means a different schedule which impacts the night we play. I found out on Sunday that thanks to C-Day falling on Sunday this year, there is no change to the load schedule this time around. The main change is instead of Saturday to Sunday, we'll come in on Sunday to Monday to throw the load instead. I can handle that.

Heh, thanks to my vast library of stl files, I'm gonna nix the idea of using bases & just go with Artisan Guild's Ashen Alfar (aka dark elves) modular figures. I only need a grand total of 6, as they don't show up all at once, but if they do I am planning on printing 3 more for a total of 9. I think there is a grand total of like 15 to 20 in the village, but when the party looks into their cottages, half are out on patrol & the others are 50% asleep.

I think I'm also gonna split the adventure into 2 parts as well. I'll run the 1st part on the 21st & the 2nd half on the 29th. I think that way the players can enjoy the adventure more + kinda fills that dead holiday week. I've also decide who their patron is that gives them the mission to go after the mistaken kids, "Hans Schmidt". Since they'll be on their current Saltmarsh adventure (Pinnacle of Power), I gotta figure out how they get there, maybe while they do a long rest for the night. In a cold snowy forest, after awaking inside his warm cozy cottage. When they go outside, they'll meet him as he is chopping some wood in his red longshirt & pants, shiny black boots. He'll be wearing a red stocking hat, has a large body(belly) & a white beard the color of the snow. He also has a herd of reindeer & a sleigh but he uses them to get around, thou he does have one special reindeer that can open portals. He has a tendency to laugh with "ho, ho hos" but the guy "isn't" Santa.:poke:

Yah right...

How they get back to the regular Saltmarsh adventures is by the special reindeer & his portal power.

I'm actually looking forward more to this adventure then I was my previous one as well. By changing the level by 1, they can use their existing Saltmarsh characters vs making level appropriate subs & then me giving whatever items they acquired this adventure.

Oooh, I hope so.   Mine would be, if I had bought it new, but I got a good deal on a slightly used vehicle so the warranty expired quite a while ago.
