I was looking for LitRPG, since I really enjoy Beware of Chicken and enjoyed Morcster Chef, both on Royal Road. Found Memoirs of Your Local Small-Time Villainess and enjoy it. But there be traps in the rough. Most Popular does not mean "best". Harem. Reverse Harem. Summoning Waifu. Yuck. I've been reading a lot of manga on a "scraping site" and, oh boy, is there a lot of stuff coming out that I just have to wonder if the internet was a mistake. There's also manwha and manhua as well, so I get to see the trends crossing cultural boundaries and how each one handles them slightly differently. For every series I give a chance, there's about 20 I don't. Harem (meaning one boy, lots of girls) reverse harem (meaning one girl, lots of boys), Isekai, and "people getting cheat powers" are way, way too common. Also, it seems like there's something of a zombie renaissance going on in Korean and Chinese fiction. I've been finding myself enjoying a lot of "slice of life" stuff. One of the series I've been following that just calms me down is one about a girl who starts riding a Honda Super Cub to school, starts making friends with other girls who ride them (or she gets them to ride them). getting into repairing them, taking trips, and just... Boring stuff. I thought it was going to be totally different, as the bike she buys is used and has killed something like the last three owners, or they were in fatal accidents, but it's just this quiet little story about learning to have independence because of reliable transportation. Oh, and not to mention that she's been totally abandoned by her family and has to live alone.

Never thought I'd start reading adult comics at my age. Not everything I've been reading is adult but a bunch are. Some are just kind of dumb, a few had surprisingly good stories, some made me laugh and some kicked me in the feelings. Maybe I'm going through my second childhood or something but I never used to be interested in love triangle and young romance stories which is the majority of what I've seen. When done right they're ok. Some of the tropes are overused but again can be interesting with the better authors.

I wouldn't say that you're going through a second childhood, but maybe just appreciating things from a different perspective? When I was younger, I wasn't a big fan of normal stuff. Looking over my collection of manga from when I was into it, barely any of it is normal world or slice of life stuff. I've come to realize that I've always looked for stuff that invokes an emotional response and when I was younger, that needed to have some different about it. I was, perhaps, a bit more an edge lord that I realized, but I know it was me chasing intense emotions and characters. Now, I can get that same emotional response from stuff in more mundane settings. And I think that's because the industry has really become better over the past few decades. Maybe it's because it's a larger market and maybe it's because only the really good stuff is getting produced. I'm not sure. But, I also think about the same things you mentioned, as I really dislike love triangles, and that's because they're usually just done poorly or because they're just tossed in there for the same of drama and not the characters. When I look at the love triangle in Komi Can't Communicate, I liked it more than I thought I would because it was really well done. I could completely understand how it developed and we were given time to understand all of the characters involved. Plus, it was used to develop the characters, not just for needless drama. And, let's be honest here, teenagers are dumb and can't deal with their feelings, so it made sense to me that people would end up liking the same person but wouldn't be able to express those feelings properly. Oh, and since the title character has social anxiety, it kind of tracks...

The emotional response is what I look for in any of my entertainment nowadays. Music, movies, books all need to make me feel something or it's not worth the time. I was never real into anime and manga but there are definitely some out there that hit the right spots for me. I really need a bit more laughter but it's the serious stories that catch me easiest. There was one love triangle I read that kept me wrapped up. No bad guys, just bad timing. I seriously felt bad for the girl that lost out (no harem storyline) and so did the couple. Bittersweet ending with a perfectly decent person left heartbroken and alone. I'm a sucker for sad stories while searching and hoping for happy ones.

Allow it but put such a high dexterity requirement on it to make the weapon useless for all practical purposes. When the carrier/platform is moving, which is going to be nearly constantly in any melee situation, it's going to be nigh on impossible to aim such a weapon from such a platform.
