Update from Texas. Things are going crazy out there.  I'm fortunately a bit further south from the center of the worst of the activity, so i've done my best to seal all the doors and windows with canned spray foam and towels.  I don't have a lot of faith this will keep them out for long, but maybe it'll leave me low hanging fruit while I wait on the 2nd Whiptail irregulars and 15th Anole cavalry to sweep east from the lake and drive them back.
Don't worry about me, I've plenty of paint left to drink and a years supply of saltine crackers.

A few light skirmishers managed to breach the laundry room, I forgot about the dryer vent. Fortunately the two M.E.O.W. sleeper agents I've been keeping an eye on were forced to reveal their skills and dispatched the invaders with, let's just say relish.....

We have a truce at the moment, though the grey one is eyeing my reserve of DNP suspiciously

City is tearing up curbs behind a elementary school & repurposing them into sidewalks. I'd hate to be the homeowners*. As I seen a few bushes laying in people's yards & other landscape victims. You gotta love the city for leaving road signs in someone's yard like "eh, lets just throw em here for now, they won't mind."

Sad part about all of this, there is a drain at the end of the street (pretty much a house down from me) that is completely plugged up, as the water is to the edges of the grate + there are weed patches growing from the cracks around it & yet they won't do a damn thing about that. That has been that way for years now. Even worst now it's right on the edge of their little sidewalk project.

*Granted everyone should know you don't own a certain percentage of your yard near the street but still.

Went into the office today for the first time in a while and saw the oddest thing. For decades the hallways in our building have been decorated with pictures and paintings of natural places here in Ohio that were either photographed or painted by employees. It was kind of nice. Apparently in the last couple of weeks our Director, who was appointed by the governor earlier in the year, decided to replace all of them with pictures of staff doing their jobs in the field. Not as fun, but also not the worst decorating choice. So today I got my first look at them. They are literally all pictures of her and her staff posing and smiling at the camera while cosplaying as actual technical staff. There's pictures of them in shiny new boots and hard hats, showing off brand new safety vests with our logos emblazoned on them (I have to buy my own safety vests), or standing in front of screens full of technical data I guarantee they do not understand the content of. Just dozens of pictures of her and  the sycophants she brought in with her. Now that's kind of tasteless. But I also get that you don't become the director of a large government agency without a little bit of narcissism. So honestly no problem there. But what really disturbed me is they're all from a recent train derailment where hundreds of folks were potentially exposed to life changing levels of hazardous material. You can literally see people in the background of some of the photos crying while these people smile at the camera. And that's just all manner of tone deaf and crazy. Not a good look at all. Oh well, these types come and go. I just hope she kept all the original artwork so we can hang it back up when she eventually leaves.

I'm not sure a hammer will do much to tectonic plates...

I don't think the problem is tectonic plates.

It's probably Texas Cockroaches, the kind who walk upright and bowlegged and wear tiny 10 gallon hats.

I'm thinking he is still looking for the Flamethrower Accessory for the hammer.

In preparation for the decommissioning ceremony for the USS Enterprise NCC-1701D, we have the exceptional honor of being escorted by one of the newly re-engined Federation ships...the B-52X.

First flown April 15th 1952, the B-52 has been in continuous service, undergoing multiple upgrades during its lifetime. The now reengined B-52X is expected to serve up to stardate 53000.0 and beyond if no suitable replacement is available at that time.

Word of advice, take lots of pictures, with dates, including the blocked grates.

From your description the city is creating a Flood Hazard that will become active with the next severe rainstorm.

Documentation of what has been done could prove useful for Insurance Claims to be Back Billed to the responsible City Agency.

As for the road signs, if they are on private property they are now abandoned property and may be disposed of by the property owner.

Good Luck

And they are still having problems with electrical/electronic failure in the Wiring Harnesses.

If she is that tone deaf the art went in a dumpster.

Jackpot!

From the description of the "artwork" that has replaced the previous wall decorations I get a sense of Low Grade Workplace Harassment over the whole situation.  Especially given the context of the background against which these selfies were made.
