Quick, enjoy the weekend before it's over!

I did. It started at 8:00 Thursday morning with an 11 hour, 470 mile motorcycle ride and it just got better from there. Got home yesterday evening with just over 1,000 miles on the bike.

 Here's a freakin' Monday for ya... 🤬

(My "Monday" shift is Monday night, so it's still my Monday...)

I lost a friggin' tooth at lunch today - the upper front left incisor is a crown, and it'd already fallen out three other times over the years. (It's not a good candidate for an implant because the bone near the tooth is cracked.)

This time the damn post came with it as well... 🤬

I haven't been to the dentist in several years since I've been unemployed most of the past two years. Which is why I rediscovered when I called them to see if I could get in sometime soon...

I have a $623.00 outstanding balance that needs to be paid before I can make an appointment.

It's going to take me a friggin' month to pay that off.

Forget the forum profanity filters - Adequately expressing how I feel right now would blow up the entire internet between here and wherever the hell the forum servers are.

<insert wailing and gnashing of remaining teeth here>

Self-insured. By Wayne Industries.

Yeah, insurance is for those of us mere mortals to helps cover unexpected expenses. If you're a billionaire you can probably cover any unexpected incidentals. Plus what company would want to be on the hook for all of his collateral damage?

There's a Deadlands adventure called Guess Who's Coming To Donner? I had the pleasure of running it with some friends for Halloween last year. My favorite characters were the duo of women who were "historically close friends" and may be (read: definitely) responsible for the death of one of their rich, older husbands. They were a Huckster and a Mad Scientist, which made it even more funny to me.

In the Netherlands Car Insurance is mandatory by law, at least the kind that covers expenses for damage to others.

Unless you're trying to get me to do some new work thing before I head off...

That seems to be how many of my Fridays go - my post 3pm Friday good mood gets shattered by some jerk calling in at 4:45pm for an issue that they've known about all week, but "has to be fixed before the weekend."

Haven't been around much lately.   Over memorial day weekend we found out my son's sub did not head out as expected, and we were able to make a last minute trip out to the west coast to visit him.   Since he can't really tell us anything about the boat's schedule, the conversation went like this:

His Mom & I:   So if we decided to drive out and see you next weekend, would we be able to see you?

Him: Probably.

Us: OK, we'll see if we can make that happen.

So we planned a 2 week vacation in 3 days, and took off driving for WA, which was a 3 day drive itself to see our boy.  Got there on a Friday night, and he told us "BTW, I have duty on Sunday and a big training day on Monday."   Then on Monday he was able to tell us his departure date, which severely cut into our vacation time with him.  Overall, we only got to spend one full day with him, and a few evenings, but it was still worth it.

Instead of cutting our vacation short and heading back home to Iowa, we decided to drive south to NorCal instead, and visit my best friend and his family.  Spent the next weekend with them, and then the three day trip back home.

Came back to find an absolute broccoli show had occurred with one of our credit card processor while I was gone.  I think I previously mentioned how we were having recurring, but random problems with them on occasional weekends starting last October.    Well, come to find out, those problems I was seeing were because they were running test servers.   All of the complaining and ranting I did apparently never made it to the development team, because the morning I left they updated their servers for everyone, which had the result of creating problems for hundreds, possibly thousands of their customers.   After 10 days they had to roll back their server updates.   And just this Saturday, they ran a test server again - and I know they didn't fix the problem because I had multiple sites contact me yesterday morning.

I got back from my vacation a mere ten minutes before service manager took his holiday (I came back half a day late and he left a half a day early).   I also came back to having been scheduled a bunch of training appointments.  So I have spent the last week struggling to catch up on what was missed while I was gone (which was worse because of the aforementioned broccoli show), plus training, plus covering the service manager's work load.  If that wasn't bad enough, I had several distributors insisting on getting new installs or site upgrades done before the upcoming holiday weekend. In fact, that's the only reason I have time to write this now - I'm waiting on one of them to finish the physical mounting of a panel I need to configure.

On the upside, I did acquire a New work PC, I just don't know when I'm going to have time to configure it and swap out the 8 year old one I've been using.

Have done absolutely no hobbying this month.

yeah, most States in the US have similar mandantory liability insurance requirements.  (NH and VA being the exceptions here), though about 30 of them allow for a driver to purchase an accident bond that you have to pay back instead of having insurance.

Ironically, i've seen statistics that indicate that the two states where it's not requred actually have lower than average rates of uninsured drivers....
