Ironically, I've seen statistics that indicate that the two states where it's not required actually have lower than average rates of uninsured drivers....

If we still had Beekeepers, I could go on about this and similar statistics....

Currently dealing with a site where we've spent months trying to get a feature to work.

The first problem isn't that it's hard to figure out why it's not working, and how to fix it, but that the site is slower than molasses at responding & and reporting the results of the required troubleshooting steps.   This has resulted in having to redo several troubleshooting steps over to make sure we're dealing with current data.

The second problem is that the site is cheap as crap.  We could have set up a phone appointment for the troubleshooting and sorted it out inside an hour, but they didn't want to pay the phone support service rate, so this has all been done by email.   With each email exchange having a small sub conversation about phone support and being charged for it.   The feature came with a set amount of phone service time, but that got chewed up with problems their network caused in the initial setup, and we've already comped them a couple hours of free phone support.  Management said "no more".

The third, and to me the most frustrating problem is that every time the ball is my court, they act like it's an emergency that must be dealt with NOW! Seriously, if I don't respond to an email from them inside an hour or two, I get a follow up email from someone else they've CCd.  And it's always "We'd like to get this working by this weekend" and "this weekend" always being a Holiday weekend.   Seriously - like they don't think about dealing with the issue until they realize it's a holiday weekend.

Sometimes I want to quote y'all out of context and follow with that's what she said. But I'm pretty sure I'd be bopped on the head. Doo doo doo.

I don't know, it might make some of us laugh.

Either at what you said, or at seeing a platypus get bopped on the head

Is a real world, useful, windscale.

I observed an instance of option four, “Down the street” back in April.

My neighbor to the South had all three of his Trash Carts out at the curb. (We are blessed with city issued, color coded, carts. Green for Lawn Debris or branches; Blue for anything Recyclable; Brown for bagged Trash.)

I heard a windy ruckus outside. I looked out a corner window. Saw the carts (they have wheels on one side) standing still. Then the wind got them moving, and they headed South down the street going maybe ten miles an hour, driven by outflow boundary wind that was also southbound that sounded like 50-70 mph. The three carts disappeared moving South blocked from my view by the corner of the neighbors house.

I texted him later letting him know the direction they had gone.

In the Netherlands Car Insurance is mandatory by law, at least the kind that covers expenses for damage to others.

yeah, most States in the US have similar mandantory liability insurance requirements.  (NH and VA being the exceptions here), though about 30 of them allow for a driver to purchase an accident bond that you have to pay back instead of having insurance.

Ironically, i've seen statistics that indicate that the two states where it's not requred actually have lower than average rates of uninsured drivers....

Yeah, we've got mandatory government insurance on vehicles here too. Not sure about the laws in Gotham though.

I'm a canadian farmer so I'm binumerial. My land was measured in miles and acres and for many things I'm still more comfortable thinking in Imperial rather than metric although I can do conversions easy enough. But american liquid measures mess me up a bit your gallons are a liter smaller than ours.

Just spent my first first day stateside in the last 4 years. The wife was busy getting me to convert the prices of everything into CAD. Normally gas prices give me a headache but right now it was $3.50 a gallon which is pretty much exactly $1.00/liter so $1.32 CAD/liter. Cheaper than here but way more expensive than I ever saw in Montana before. A lot of things were roughly the same price as here which we'd never seen before. Our inflation has been ridiculously high lately but in looks like our neighbours to the south is even worse. ::(:
