Hrmph!

Skylight has a leak...

Called a company to deal with it, now to wait when they have time to send someone over.

It's the one in the hallway, but still annoying as #@!

Roofer has replaced bitumen/roofing.

Skylight leaked, he came back and made some adjustments around it, after that, heavy rain, no problem.

Now more rain, another leak.

He figured it creeps in through wind/rain which it shouldn't

But now it's stopped raining, I went up, wiped a bit of water of the corner of the skylight and when I got down I noticed it had immediately dripped in.

So I guess it's the skylight itself, maybe a tiny crack, it's an old skylight.

So I hope the company can fix it and that it won't cost me too much...

I have a metric tape measure. Highly recommend one for doing wall trim.

Any particular reason why?

I won’t buy a tape measure that does not have both units on it.  The tape has two edges.

Even Me as a Dutch person using the metric systems has such tape measures whit both systems on it.

They're on the same side, one above one below.

My guess is the mm is a smaller unit of measurement than an eight or sixteenth of an inch.

So yesterday I posted about the site where we've spent months trying to get the feature to work?

Well, we managed to move a few steps forward now.  We know what the problem is and have two different ways to solve it.   But the site can't make up it's mind.

One of the solutions is a software update, and is the better way to do it.   But doing the software update requires a special In System Programmer with which to update the firmware on various PCBs. The site should have one, as they were sold one three years ago.

But they can't find it, and instead are trying to buy a replacement for it on Amazon - which won't work, because you can't buy  the specific one they need/we support on Amazon*.  Yet, despite me telling them that, they keep sending links from Amazon asking "will this one work?"

*there are a couple on Amazon that will work, but we don't provide tech support for them, because they either use custom software we're not familiar with, or they require a full software development package that can be overwhelming/confusing, and thus too easy to accidently brick a board with.

I find remembering a number while walking between the room where the wall is to the garage where the trim gets cut is easier when the number is similar to 178.35 rather than 30 and 15/16.

And the accuracy as well. Can do a half mm pretty easy, which is is roughly .020 in. My good tape measure is ticked at 1/32s so .031 in. In theory, I could go by half of the 32nds tics and get .016 accuracy but then I fall into the number being 30 and 15/16 and a half tic. The speed increase I get from not having to measure four times (since I measured twice to start with) and either write the number down or an extra moment to remember is worth it to me. Just speed through what I need built. Especially if what I am building doesn’t need attaching to something in the other units.

Sometimes I want to quote y'all out of context and follow with that's what she said. But I'm pretty sure I'd be bopped on the head. Doo doo doo.

You know, you could just screen shot the posts and put them on a blog or Twitter or something with your comments...

Figure the skylight guy will not show up earlier than Friday anyway...

I packed the darn skylight in plastic and used waterproof tape.

Let's hope that will hold till the experts have time to fix it.

I really really hate having to deal with repairs especially since I can't do much myself.

In better news, tomorrow celebration of the Royal Netherlands Air Force Anniversary.

We will have a parade/ceremony and then we'll have several sports events to take part in, I'm going hiking with a group.

This is usually fun.
