SparrowMarie
My, uh, estimate of 1k photos was...light. Turns out I have almost 3k photos to sift through.
kristof65
I am so done with Mondays. And Tuesdays. And well, just work in general these days. Service Manager: Hey, I noticed that X wasn't done while I was on vacation. I'm doing it now, but how did you remotely connect to the site?Me (looking for ticket or email that came in while he was on vacation): I'm not seeing any ticket for that, I don't recall. SM: Ticket #xxxxxMe (scans last entries in ticket. Ticket was originally created in February, but has entries going up to late May): I don't see anything in the ticket that suggests I was connected. SM: You have some datacapture there, I assumed that meant you got in. Me: (rereads complete ticket this time, finds the entry he's referring to from March): Um, it says right in the ticket how I got connected. SM: Doh! Also today, I found out the rep at one of my recommended credit card providers left that company, and that the company divvied up all of our mutual customers to a half dozen different representatives. One of the reasons we put a company on our recommended providers list is having a single point of contact for all of our mutual customers. At this rate, I'm going to have only one recommended provider. 1

kristof65
So remember the scummy landlord I mentioned where it looked like he hack the old owner's email? Turns out that the he got his hands on the email because the old owner forwarded it to a tech at another company, who in turn mentioned it to the landlord. The old owner's felt bad that they had forgotten about that, especially after talking to their lawyer. I still don't like the vibes the landlord/new site owner gives me, but at least he's not admitting felonies to me. 5

TGP
Someone was in the “Boaty McBoatface” mindset when they labeled the sandwich. That mindset should be punishable.

TGP
There is this trending thing on Ticktok currently called the “boat jump challenge” (or so I was told by TV news last night) that has gotten people paralyzed and even killed. It involves jumping into a lake, from a boat, that is moving a full throttle. Broken neck is the probable result. ________________ What happens if we achieve self-aware full-on AI and it turns out to be as dumb as people? 3

It's a now old bit of folk wisdom that states "Mistakes happen, but to really screw things up you need a Computer". All one has to do is look at the ongoing dumpster fire that is so much of Social Media, understand that AI will be using these same websites to be trained up, and any Science Fiction Fan can explain what will happen with the AI. Imagine an AI inhabited "Chat Room" where each AI has been trained up on the various popular Social Media Platforms. The question will become "how fast will the hardware overheat, go into thermal runaway, and melt?". GEM
