A strange observation was made at work: The average household now has more screens than there are people. 😵

I remember the days where we had only one television in the whole house. Today I have at least six devices that can display pretty much anything (TV, laptop, PC monitors, tablet, smartphone). And I'm ignoring the secondary devices like my car's dashboard and touchscreen.

We've had more screens that people for a while, but we also have triple monitor setups...  Eventually hubby will have a 3+1 setup while I'll have a 3+2...  Then there's the phones and tablets, and the tv...

Anne is having issues with dropped frames.  Looks pretty serious on my end.

ETA: Anne ended the stream early after chatting and answering some questions for a while. The video issue never improved, but voice was okay.  She thinks her ISP is working on the cables.

Me neither. But guess whose cows and horses water source froze off....Yeah. This be heavy parka weather

I'm lucky in that my farm has several springs that run all year long. The waterers around my yard are frozen solid but the cows can walk a short distance to drink. When I was younger my daily routine was feeding grain in 5 gallon pails most of the morning and then doing a half mile walk to check all the troughs in any weather. Now I'm sitting in a warm house 20 miles away and not worried because they have enough feed and bedding to last a few days.

We have three people in the house. There are three TVs, four laptops or equivalent (two work and two personal), two additional screens for the work computers, two mobile phones, two tablets (although one hasn't been used for a while so I'm not sure if it still works) and a laptop shell for hooking up to a phone. And one of the three of us is still too young to have any screens of her own.

Yeah, for the last 20 years, we've had a flowing well, providing water to the house, and running off to fill a tank for the livestock. But then one day it quit flowing out there, and we've had troubles and a whole lot of monkeying to keep it going. It's strange, can go from five gallons a minute, to nothing, in a couple of hours.

Really wonder how sentient my web browser is, and why it can read my mind just enough to mess with me.

When I open a new tab, it opens up empty. It fills that emptiness with sites it thinks I might like to read. I try to ignore it. Occasionally it does show something that looks interesting. Half the time it is something interesting, and the other half is total clickbait. Thus, I try to avoid it.

So many times, I avoid the image multiple times. When I then start wondering why they keep suggesting it and if it is something I may actually be interested in is when it decides that I no longer need to see that. It’s as if the browser knows exactly when it has peaked my interest and chooses that exact moment to hide it from me. I’m not talking handfuls of minutes. I’m talking seconds.

*open tab*
*click bookmark*

”Oh, right. That image looked interesting and it’s shown that for the last few times. Let’s see what that was.”

*open tab*
*browser shuffles all suggestions*

*anger ensues*

I would have thought any idiot would realize one should never play chicken with a train, as it literally can't lose.

Of course there's a random clip on the internet showing the world made better idiots. 🤦‍♂️
