... rural Germany?

(Seriously, over the last year and a half, regularly had to travel there for work, and the joke of German 4G networks just isn't funny anymore once you have to actually put up with it.)

No. I am still in Kansas, but living at my mom's, which seems to be near a black hole. I can do something online, but it usually takes forever to do anything. I am in the slow process of trying to get WiFi at her house and also work on the forum adventure.

Maybe you are too close to Elmira Gulch's house.

Today there is no joy in Margaritaville.

I just read Jimmy Buffett has passed away at age 76, from skin cancer that progressed into Lymphoma.

It's been a rough go for celebrities recently.

Arleen Sorkin, voice of the original Harley Quinn, passed the other week as well.

We also recently lost Bernie Marsden and Jack Sonni, guitarists for Whitesnake and Dire Straits, respectively, in the past few days as well.

Definitely not a good week to be famous.

Hope everybody who is at ReaperCon is having a good time.

Also hoping they have taken lots of pictures, and will have stories to tell when they return.

I've been sporadically taking pictures, but haven't had the usual spare time in the evening this year to post them. I'll do a photo dump probably on Monday. 🙂

I finally wandered upstairs after the gummi bear painting contest concluded. It was serious business last year, but this year it was 1000x more serious because now there are TROPHIES

Have I mentioned lately how much I love this community?

Wait?  There is a filter? But you can’t access it except by digging?

It's not the filter inside the pump.

The piping goes into the well and on the very end of the part that sucks the water in is a little metal filter. The pipe might have gone too deep which leads to sand into that filter and no water can pass.

We need to retrieve that part and see if we can fix it.

Either that or the well has gone dry, but that seems unlikely since more neighbours are still pumping water.

We use the groundwater for the garden and trees.

Well, Burning Man is now in "survival mode" from the deluge earlier today.

Road in and out is unusable due to flooding.

Addendum: They just announced on the news Pershing County, where the event is held, isn't letting anyone in to the area due to the flooding.

As I type this there is a Weather Alert for Storm Warning with Ping-Pong size hail moving north-west from Lovelock [along I-80 east of Reno] into Pershing County.  Burners are going to get hammered.

This may put the event on the National News later today, for all the wrong reasons.

Locally, we had a house rattling lightning strike close enough the thunder hit less than a second later and the power went out.  Just got it back a few minutes ago.
