I hate running out of frogs.

Not sure why this is a bad thing.

…unless you are painting 15mm Napoleonics, for some reason you chose the French, and you need another 58 little guys to complete a brigade.

Have I mentioned I love having a place to post all my random thoughts without any context?

This is why @Girot invented the concept 18 threads ago.

Indeed.

Now for context. Was playing one of my daily games, and the event was to recapture escaped frogs. Still had resources to use but no targets. Thus, the phrase entered my head.

I thought being out of frogs was why people owned 3d printers...

I thought that was so you never had time to actually hobby, since your hobby becomes trying to get your 3d printers running.....

First time in months I had all 3 fdm printers actually printing at once.  Lasted one print and then the SV03 went back to having first layer issues (either not sticking or clogging, occasionally both....). Sigh.

That sounds horrifically like FarmVille or something analogous.

FarmVille was one of the reasons I ditched Facebook.

In yet another update in the mailbox drama, I was (finally) able to get a hold of someone at the post office. They confirmed that they have the mail, they'd hold the mail until the mailbox is replaced, and that it's up to the property management to replace it. They asked that I pick up my mail once a week, so I guess I'll be adding that to my weekly chores for the next few months. Because they FINALLY replaced that walkway at my apartment, and that took months, so since it doesn't directly effect the apartment manager, I'm sure it's on a back burner.

Look up state law regarding this.  IIRC, from my brief stints as a landlord in CA and CO, ensuring tenant mail delivery is one of those things that landlords must make a priority.  Meaning that they might want to put it on the back burner, but may not be able to without consequences, such as residents withholding rent.

IANAL, but check into what your options are.  Sometimes just a well worded letter referencing the correct section of law can spur action.

RE: day shift/night shift--there's nothing like military service to teach you that ALL sleep is precious and that you'd better be quiet when others are sleeping 'cause you don't want to get to be known as ' that noisy broccolier'.

Yep.

At one of my commands for awhile, I had to share a room with a couple of day shifters, while I was on night shift.  I'd be as quiet as could be, and they'd still complain about me making noise, then turn around and be complete a-hats while I was sleeping.

My thinking when it comes to Bones is you get what you pay for. However, that doesn't mean that they're terrible. They're a low cost product, which means that they can't be held to the standard of something that costs twice as much. I really appreciate Bones and I use them for baddies, hordes, and just stuff I can throw down on the table quickly. Of course, there's the new USA stuff, which has the absolute worst lines and flash to deal with. Thankfully, it's pretty rare.

I really like the Bones (and now 3d prints) because I can give them away to players without really worrying about cost.

It's been a tradition in the high school games that I run to let retiring players take their mini with them at the end of the campaign, or when they graduate high school.   For the first time, I'm going to have to worry about that because one of the girls picked out a metal mini.  Up until now, they've all been Bones or 3d Printed, but she really liked the Reaper 50024 Anime Heroine Candy figure.   Of course, this particular player doesn't graduate for a few more years, so I'm not going to worry about it now.

I love seeing the out of context stuff, and knowing that it's not just vague posting - after a few guesses, the OP will usually let us in.

In other news, my son finally wrote us telling us he passed his Submariner Board (can't remember the official name) - gets his "fish" soon.

What does the sign say?  I am not recalling the details from your earlier post.

(You’d think the apartment management would put up a sign?  Or the USPO?)

It was "hi, neighbors. Your mail is at (post office address and phone number). I'm sorry no one else let you know" in rather big font. It was slightly snarky but not insulting. But, it appears to have kicked over the hornet's nest (I'll get into to it at the end here).

Are you aware of any Post Office Regulations that may be used to "encourage" property management to act faster in resolving this matter?

If not, perhaps a conversation with your local Post Master or Postal Inspector is in order.

It's on my to-do list. I'll be asking on Friday when I do my (now) weekly trip to the post office.

Also on my list of things to do. I'm going to be working on the tenants' union with the neighbor, so (hopefully) won't just be me having to do this.

Okay, now for the update...

I put up the sign and it stayed up all night. When morning rolled around, the manager got PISSED. She ripped it down, sent a nasty text to my neighbor, asking if it was her, and then put a notice up on the effected units. Finally. On a Sunday morning. I'm sure she was happy to do that on her "day off." And, oh boy, this notice is super classy. Here's some quotes:

"We were waiting to get clarification from the post office on a few things before relaying information" (They admit that they found it on Tuesday morning, this is Sunday when we find this out)

"I wanted to take a moment to to address an issue regarding communication on our property... Notices in the laundry room and now the mailbox without prior authorization... I kindly request that any questions, comments, of concerns be brought to the office..." Translation: I'm getting called out and I don't like it.

So. Yeah. I didn't see whatever was posted in the laundry room, but it doesn't sound like she liked it very much. At this point, my neighbor and I are probably going to try to get her removed. She's been getting worse and worse this year and it's time for her to go...

Now, I need to work on my apartment. If I got inspected right now, I'd be royally screwed. And I'm betting there's going to be some shenanigans going on shortly. And I haven't even gotten into the work drama that's going on.

It's nice to see the Randomness thread still here, even if it is a little quieter! Hi friends 💜

*waves*

Your absence from ReaperCon was noticeable. Hope you are doing well.

Getting pushback on the business trip I’m trying to schedule. Subcontractor is saying they don’t have customers out for development testing. Right, understandable. But when VPs are asking for daily testing status because the test report is a hard fixed contact line item? You’re gonna get attention.

Waiting for my blood pressure to decrease and a quick chat with my manager before replying.

Your manager sounds like she thought the job was going to be easy, and be nothing more than collecting rent while living in a "free" apartment.

Tell her not to go into the car wash business after she loses her job there, please..

Inspection? Make sure you're aware of all the relevant laws for inspections and landlord entry.

A lot of cities have unconstitutional rental unit inspection laws, and even more crappy landlords have illegal policies or habits about entering. The worst part about many of them is that they (either the landlord or city inspectors) know they're illegal, but bet on tenants not knowing their rights or being unwilling to take on the burden of standing up for their rights.

A tenants union sounds like a good idea for you.

Can you clarify what you're saying here?  I think you're saying that your company's contract with the vendor says there will be some on site testing inspections, but they're trying to squirm out of it?

Well, I haven’t seen their actual contract, but in their test plan, it says that the customer needs to notify them X days prior to the testing that we wish to come out and observe the test. So, I asked when the testing is, much earlier than X days away from the test, so I can come observe. He’s saying that they don’t normally get visits in the early testing on developmental units, but on the final unit testing. After they’ve solved all their testing problems of course. But the problems is that the test report for this development test is a fixed date in the contract that we have with our customer (and I hope with all my lil’ engineer heart was passed into their contract).

So management is very concerned that if the testing has issues, there are now Big Issues(tm). And if there was no oversight from us during that test, things will appear to be that we weren’t taking the tests seriously. And thus our customer gets upset.

I hope for your sake, too.   Thanks for the clarification.

Today I'm having to deal with a relatively new distributor tech who apparently doesn't want to tell his boss he doesn't know certain things/ask his boss to learn them, and instead is calling me for help. Things his boss and at least one other tech at his company knows how to do.  I wonder what sort of hornet's nest I'll stir up by billing the distributor?
