Have you advised them to get a hyper-encabulation unit?  I hear the side fumbling is greatly reduced and the machining of the ambifacient lunar-wane shaft is far more precise. It has a big effect on the panametric fan's overall efficiency.

LOL!

We used to have a tech who would BS like this when he couldn't figure things out - a bunch of technogabble followed by a "Well, it probably needs an upgrade."

I want to thank all the forumites who responded to my dilemma concerning Brutus in his thread.

Once again this proves to be a great community with caring people.

Thanks all of you, I'm really grateful for all the insights and advice and even for those who didn't respond but left an emoticon, I know you care!

We have reached a decision, we will let Nature take it's course, hoping Nature will take it's time...

Running around for two days straight, hyped up on birthday cake and leftover ice cream cake from Grumpy's B-Day. ::P:

What? NO! She's 3, she's 3! She's not getting older, we're not getting older! It's just all a terrible illusion!

I proclaim thee "Journeyman Plumber".

Not quite, but close.

For full Journeyman Status you have to become "up to your elbows" familiar with all the plumbing [and what it carries] on the output end of the toilet.

Been there, done that. Do Not Recommend.

Well, young boss is on their way out the door. They've been removed from the schedule, demoted, and will be "offered" the chance to end their employment early. There's a phrase I could use, but not on here (you know the one).

This week has drained me. Other boss is back from the east coast and is obsessed with finding these things called "pizza logs" in my neck of the woods. I called them a messed up egg rolls or a Hot Pocket with a delusion of grandeur and now he's ordered 100 of them from the manufacturer, to prove me wrong. Social engineering is fun and hopefully delicious.

Our one cat Kira is 17 and has thyroid issues.  Our other cat Moony is about 10 and is an orally-fixated jerk.  Our one dog Lola is almost 10 and is losing hair on her tail, is still The Prettiest Girl, and is the most food-motivated organism I have ever seen.  Our other dog Bella is maybe 8 and is a Yorkiefloof mix, currently shaved to look like a rat due to hair mats.  The fish and snails....are.  Timothy the All-Devouring lost half a forearm in a possibly cricket-related altercation but is still snatching flies out of the air like the highly specialized ambush predator he is.  These are the 9 authorized nonhumans.

We also just got ourselves a long-overdue carpet shampooer.  That's right, we're using sham poo to clean up the real poo.  I look for the time when my house no longer smells like the wrong end of cat and/or dog.

There used to be a bottle shop in Portland (they sold bottles - old bottles) that was only open when he wasn't driving his taxi.

He owned the building, so didn't worry about making rent.

Y'know, I think I've actually been there... Or at least walked past the place once. Downtown Portland is kinda awesome.

Work is work. I say any more about my current feelings on things will lead to the word filters/replacements working some OT.

Our agile agility isn’t.

Firehose of needs seems desperate and without any authority behind it.

And tomorrow is a work Friday.

Sleep is desperately needed to escape the cube hell.

Then the paycheck hits the account, Monday comes, and we repeat the week.

May really push hard to become the program 3D printing guru. Design stuff that’s fun and get away from engineering oversight.

Nah. They are pushing to deploy to X number of programs and showing that they saved $X money. They way the programs are using it is to take tasks from MS Project, make Stories from that, update things once a week in Agility, then sending the updates back to the planners and MS Project.

The instructor claimed that adopting Agile would allow us to improve our projects but never got into the details of how that’s supposed to happen. Maybe the videos he links will explain.

Good grief, that’s not an effective use of agile methodology at all. Sounds pretty redundant.

Exactly! I think the instructor has basically given up on any semblance of trying to make effective implementations of things and is now just trying to meet arbitrary goals.

Spent about an hour watching YouTube videos explaining agile and how to work it into hardware. And honestly? The instructor was right. It did come the hardware world. I know because I joined the workforce at the end of the physical era and the beginning of the virtual one. Old way of doing things was to build/test/break/improve/repeat. I had reams of test data in the mid 90s that I could refer to. We’d built so many prototypes that there was always a nugget of knowledge we could use elsewhere.

SpaceX kept coming up as a company that was implementing Agile for their rockets. Commentators talking about how innovative they are by doing so many tests has always confused me. That’s an old, old method of development. But now that I have a bit more knowledge on the subject of “agile”, I understand the fascination now.

If I had to summarize what agile looks like for hardware, it’d be prototypes that absolutely do not meet the final requirements. But they inch towards them. And with access to a 3D printer a prototype is just hours away, albeit in plastic. It’s a bit frustrating to watch those videos sling labels around trying to garner some consulting money. Just build it. That’s the executive summary.

Sheesh!
