Randomness: the 18th sequel

I've never been much of a tech/handy man.

My Girl is out for a Mother/Daughter's Weekend and I'm working on the stairs in the basement.

It goes remarkably well.

Last night I discovered water under the kitchen sink.

Noticed that this little thing was loose.

I could turn it around without resistance.

So I googled it and learned that it is connected to the rubber ring beneath the sink.

Hence the leakage.

I have tightened the metal ring again, tested it 4 times and no more leaking.

For most of you this will be peanuts.

To me it's victory!

In the old days I might have called a plumber for something like this.

Slowly I'm learning.

Doesn't mean I like home repairs, I still hate doing it.

I rather paint, read or cook but hey, at least I'm learning how to do things myself.

Hmm, I wonder if I can get this added to my official list of holidays for days off?

I'd still have fewer days off than the Canadians.

Last time I worked on my birthday was 2005, so I've decided it's an official holiday for me

At least you're starting small, I was conned into building a house...

Gungywamp forest?

I know where you got the idea for that.::D:

(Hint: it's very loosely based on a real geographical location)

Not so loosely, lol - The Great Black Swamp is known by the indigenous locals as Gungywamp Swamp ::P:

(And the original idea for the adventure that I'm working on for my D23 project - an earthquake causes the tops of some long-lost dwarven ruins to rise up out of the swamp - was directly inspired by the stone structure in the middle of the real-world Gungywamp...)

Damn right I flat out stole it - I mean, c'mon, how awesome a name is "Gungywamp"? And it's not the only local landmark I've hijacked over the years - Back in college my players literally refought the Battle of New London, commanding the 88 local militia volunteers defending Fort Griswold. There was even a turncoat named Benedikt. ::D:

Gungywamp isn't the only local easter egg I'm placing in the campaign area, either - Fort Griswold will be making its return somewhere undecided yet, as well as Gillette's Castle, Devil's Hopyard (with a real devil), the Charter Oak, the Jewett City Vampires and a couple others.

Really sorta worried about my brain.

Had absolute hell trying to start the lawnmower. Pulled 4-5 times with the motor hard to turn over. While pondering the situation, as it had been not starting easily in the spring, I put my hand back on the handle bringing the bail bar down with the same motion.

“Huh,” went brain, “that feels different for some reason now.”

Yeah, lawnmowers start a lot easier when that bail bar is properly engaged at the start. Fired right up and the grass has been cut.

Wut?! This is why I don’t watch CU games.

Anyway, just found out the my favorite canned iced coffee is discontinued. Huh. Probably one of those, hey, we don’t stock that anymore because we couldn’t keep it on the shelves and had to keep reordering it (actual words my dad’s grocer said once about a product, so obviously it’s family gospel).

But since I have a spreadsheet and access to nutritional information, I have formulated my own recipe. Seems they were watering down their espresso since that’s the only way to make the ingredients line up in the proper order.

Now see, it’s pretty easy. Caffeine can only come from the espresso so that gets the serving size of that. The only ingredient that had saturated fat was the cream so boom I know how much that needs to be. It states on the can exactly how much added sugar is inside.  That left skim milk. But to fill up the rest of the volume with it exceeds the amount of espresso, and so it would need to be the first listed rather than second. Thus, espresso (water, coffee) needed extra water to make things legal.

Now to test!
