2¢: Add changing that doorknob and lock set to your list of “household projects”.

This is what I was in the middle of doing when I got locked in. The door shut before I had finished, and the knob for the inside was still on the outside.  So no knob to turn, and no pliers to use as a temp door knob.

So not a safety issue, just an ID-10-T error.

Next time I'm at IKEA, though, I'm picking up yet another one of their FIXA tool kits to stash in the closet.

***Those skills include initially mistaking a wood burner for the soldering iron, forgetting which end of the iron is the “do not touch” end, forgetting to include a larger heat shrink wrapper over all the resoldered wire (which I anticipate failing since you shouldn’t do that), and taping up the harness (because I forgot the heat shrink) before putting the connector screw cap back on thus having to do that twice.

Don't feel bad - almost 40 years as an Electronics Tech, and I still do some of those.

Not going to admit which ones, though. At least not tonight.

So Christmas dinner consisted of: two Sour Cream Cake Donuts and one Chocolate donut (that I didn’t order) with some Cold Brew coffee from the fridge, plus some dark chocolate Reese’s thins and one Chessman Butter Cookie

(…mine was a Pawn) with the last teacup of milk from the milk carton.

That was technically (a coffee and donuts) breakfast had at around 12:40pm.

Not feeling much desire to cook.

Is anyone else able to improve on that?

I had a bowl of leftover (home made) tomato soup for lunch.

Boneless turkey breast with stuffing and baked potatoes in the oven now.  Green peas and cranberry sauce may make an appearance. Or gravy.  I don't much feel like cooking, but most of this only needs to be heated for a certain time or to a temperature, and then we can eat.

Freezing rain, sleet, and snow incoming....

A little bit. We made a skillet sized pot pie with drop biscuits for the crust. We were going to do bacon scones but the filling didn't seem quite thick enough for something that dense. So we made a last minute change to the lighter biscuits. Also had whatever this eggnog, whiskey, coffee liqueur and maple syrup drink my wife made up. It's interesting.

I'm getting close to food coma status over here. It's quite nice. Cheers all!

On Christmas Eve, I was invited at relatives for supper. Tons of food, snacks, beverages. Two of my cousins and their spouses and kids (good lord but they grew) were there, my uncle, all of my aunts. A very nice evening despite the unfavourable weather conditions (luckily they live 10 minutes from my mother's home). Went to bed around 2 am with an excess of calories.

Christmas day itself was very uneventful. My mom hurt her back last week and has muscle spasms. The Tylenol helps, but the Naproxen is giving her an upset stomach. And since she's diabetic, not eating or drinking isn't making things easier on her system. I shovelled her car out and moved our vehicles in the side street for the snow clearing. We wrapped a few gifts.

Since I usually see my brother and sister around New Year's, we're in the habit of exchanging gifts at that time. We're planning an extended family gathering at the restaurant on the 1st; a day of skiing and immediate family dinner on the 2nd. And on the first, we start to head home.

We usually have oatmeal for breakfast on Christmas morning (something my mother started when I couldn't see over the table, probably as a delaying tactic), and that provides reasonable fuel through the day.

We had a standing rib for dinner; which is not unusual. Andi made bread dumplings (from scratch!) and gravy and I made brussels sprouts (lightly steamed) and yorkshire pudding, which was flat, but tasted right, so whatever... I haven't made it in a while. 😜

It was good. The whole household is now round..

As y'all may have surmised; Andi's feeling a lot better. He's also gone and changed jobs, and I suspect that's helping more than a little.
