Here is the story: https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/dfw/news/12-year-old-boy-injured-by-gunfire-while-watching-fireworks-in-arlington/#app Age 12? I’d swear it was 8 when I heard it on the Sunday Night News. I might have miss heard but TV Newsie folk will often quietly correct things later. IDK. And they included the street (but withheld the exact address). It is near the three stadiums where the Cowboys and Rangers sportball franchises play. (Professional) Fireworks (shows) happen there on any holiday that provides an excuse for fireworks. I figured it was near there. Lots of huge carparks and stadium seating from whence to watch. Good place to hold something like that. A competing station is reporting 2 were wounded. In separate locations. https://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/arlington-child-recovering-after-being-hit-by-stray-bullet/3160171/?amp=1
Marvin
Neighbors been firing guns all day here. Pretty regular holiday occurrence in this part of the countryside. They’re at least bright enough not to do it indiscriminately…
haldir
NYE here they were shooting fireworks off around 1040 pm. Why I have no idea. While unloading the truck (which showed up at 1 that night, on the account of anther store, (store employee with a key for the backdoor) getting there late...) I did here a barrage of firecrackers somewhere. Hobby-ing can be frustrating. Finally gluing up the printed minis for the delayed holiday game & finally the superglue & accelerator wanna play nicely. Too bad I only got 6 minis left.
SparrowMarie
I'm going to start a massive organization project of the hobby room tomorrow. It will involve moving some furniture to make room for our small table to go where it's supposed to. I've been meaning to do all this since we moved in (in 2019...). I may also need to buy a rolling cart or another drawer tower. I need to put all my basing stuff somewhere else. The drawer it is all stuffed in is full and I have more stuff I got for my birthday and the holidays that just will not fit. Still need to work on putting extra agitators and shaking up (on the vortex mixer) A Lot of paint. Once I do that they will get swatches if they don't already have them. This will also include figuring out what I have doubles (triples, quadruples...) of colors and I can store those somewhere until I need them or it's time for maintenance. All this will be preceded by moving all my crap from downstairs back upstairs. (I haven't been able to paint at my desk since April. It's still hard to be in the room but I don't instantly burst into tears when I walk in.) There is...more than I thought. So more organizing on top of what I mentioned above. It's going to get busy around here.

It's going to get busy around here. That is something I really need to address this year. Hobby Room does get hot in the summer, but every other time of the year it's fine to be in. Garage is getting to be a cluster"fluff" as well. I think before we resume the Saturday game, I need to do some cleaning/organizing of that as well. At least the temps are getting higher/warmer now, as I was out there in the garage today & I didn't have the heater on (tech, I can't have it on due to the cluster where I'd have it plugged in at...). I just need to get more organized overall.

Bills player collapsed after taking a hard hit. Meds had to administer CPR for 9 minutes or so. Game was postponed. Edit: apparently he suffered cardiac arrest due to the hit. He's in the local hospital stable but still critical.

Evilhalfling
the spawn are back in school today, and the wife is actually going into work. I have the house to myself So I am planning on my end of the year photoshoot. Gathering all the minis I painted last year and doing group shots, perhaps a video for tick-tock . 117 although I think a few were given away . I even picked up a black sheet for last years photos, its only purpose is to use as a photo backdrop. as for organization, I should really put away the minis from 2021, at least some of which just got left out under a dustcover and never stored properly. Dioramas continue to be a problem to store. my paints are messy but organized enough - I even pulled out a bag of doubles to give to the new painter in my D&D group - he has done a few minis and got a Learn-to-paint kit for Christmas (at my suggestion) Edited January 3 by Evilhalfling

Especially without even a proper privy. Or a wood stove. Radio is reporting there are still over 15,000 customers without power so I guess we can count ourselves "fortunate". Hope everybody is safe, warm, and dry. GEM 5 2

Pegazus
The holidays passed too quickly. Literally. Due to the calendar, I got a bit over a week off. Company closes from Christmas Eve to past New Year's. Some years we get nearly two weeks off. Not this year. Didn't get any paint slapped on. Figure I am now two months behind on my ReaperCon plan from September. Not surprised really. Spent a lot of time working on my stars tho. Sadly, I ran into a problem last night that's probably endemic to astronomy. The Bright Star Catalog was going to be my starting point for the "real" list. But the distances in that list (9000+ stars) is inconsistent with what I have been working on so far. And that's like the biggest data points I need to make things work. I should just go paint. Oh. Wait. Job. Need to go work.
