Having grown up around the military...  Yeah, "military grade" isn't anywhere near as great as many make it out to be.  What version of the spec are we talking?  Is it "bomb proof" (to a certain spec, like say it'll handle whatever an F-18 can throw at it, but a few well placed artillery shells will compromise it?), or is "bomb proof (once, any size, more or less contains the explosion within 100 feet)"?  This is why you mention actual specifications and standards, because those are measureable.

This is a problem I've been running into with trying to find glass transition temperatures for ABS.  Way too many are below 85C, but then you have things like Vicat testing, which give weights AND pressures and what temperatures things start softening at, which is much more useful.  Why am I looking at such?  Building a printer for slightly higher temperatures than my Trident, so I want something that isn't going to throw a fit if chamber temperatures are closer to 65C actual (versus my Trident's 52-55C).  I also ran into serious issues with the "military grade" Peregrine Gloves we purchased ages ago.  $150 USD for something that literally disintegrated in less than two weeks, the contact pads would shred themselves to bits in short order...

3d printing is not the for faint of heart, or maybe just not for the ignorant. I did not know you should run a cleaning filament through before changing to a new material. I do know that now AND how to change the nozzle assembly. 🤪

It seems to depend on what you're pushing through the printer.  I don't really do cleaning filament all that often, but I'm getting better about it, especially when I switch from ABS to PLA...  But I also run nickel plated copper nozzles as that's what came with my hot end, and apparently you don't get filament sticking to them anywhere near as much as brass...

Anybody remember the Oldsmobile commercial where they bragged about building the car to aerospace tolerances?

That was a good laugh.

I once gave a tolerance of 60 inches ± 1 inch.

Part came back at 58.75 inches. I did not enjoy writing that quality report. I may have been a little harsh.

Wow, just.... wow.  Quarter inch out of tolerance on something that you gave them PLENTY of leeway.  I would've been the guy to be all "hey, is it alright if it takes us an extra day or two?  Accidental mis-measurement has it out of spec, so we have to redo it.  Either that or is it okay if it's x amount out, and if so, can you revise the specifications?"

But I also grew up around the aerospace world, so I know better than some about things like "measure THREE times, and double check your specs before you cut"...

Don't forget to engineer pit traps into every level. Entryway to another room? Pit trap. Glittering treasure on a dais? Pit trap. Badly-needed toilet during the dungeon crawl? Pit trap.

And once they get used to there being pit traps....  A room that OBVIOUSLY has one according to them...  But in reality is...  Nothing.  Absolutely nothing.  It's literally just a regular hallway that looks suspicious.

Yup, I saw the news story about the Iron Maiden stamps; I didn't know about the puzzles.

The Motorhead tour truck is pretty cool, I wonder how it would scale with 28mm figures....

Knowing Revell, it's probably 1/25th scale. Thou I'm not sure on their semi-truck models.

Ok, looked it up & I found the plastic model:

https://www.scalemates.com/kits/revell-07654-motoerhead-tour-truck--1308417

It's 1/32 scale. Length is 55.2, so it appears to be small then the 3d puzzle (at 58.6).

I have been thinking of starting a thread for it.

Unless you already have? If not, I will later tonight.

I made the thread.

@Mad Jack  I am seven days behind.

Dungeon23

Is: take a journal (with graph paper pages), a little time each day, and the year 2023 …and create an old school megadungeon.

Draw/Design one room per day.
28-30 rooms is a level.
12 levels / one per Month

365 room megadungeon in a year.

If several people post rooms readers who did mot want to draw rooms could cherry-pick rooms and cobble together their own version of a forum-generated mega dungeon.

Everybody is invited.

Whoo-hoo!

I finished some minis tonight!  Got the Bones V trolls done (Fan Favorites and Dungeon Dweller).  I even set up the light box and everything for the pictures.  But, what I didn't realize is that the iPhone takes pictures in a different format than Windows recognizes.

::(:

I guess I try again tomorrow and either use the tablet or reset the camera preferences on the phone.

If you reset the phone you're good to go for more than just this session.

Yeah, same question. I have been directly copying pictures from the iPhone for years. You shouldn’t have any problem there.

iPhone XR.

The thing of it is, it had been in JPEGs.  I have quite a few pictures that my mother took (it was originally her phone), and they're all fine.  But at some point in time, I'm assuming it happened during a system update, it switched to HEIC.
