Like illegal/unenforceable terrible. But you’d have to have the contact/license experience or a lawyer to figure that out, and you could still end up signing away your rights accidentally if you use the new one. The problem is that small shops won’t have the resources or experience to know which parts are which. Remember: strawhat is not a lawyer. He doesn’t even play one on tv. The leaked OGL is currently the main topic on all of the hobby related YouTube channels. And some of them *do* have lawyers. It'll take a while to full understand what it means; what it can and can't legally do; and what it does and doesn't do but the average layman thinks it does. Overall, people are not happy.

'Cause it's been more then 2 years since a "hot, new" edition was out on the shelves! Technically it's not 6, as it's totally compatible with 5, but whatever. If WoTC drops access to 5e books purchased on DnDBeyond, I'll be done with them, that's for sure.

They've said that about many previous editions too. AD&D 2e regarding AD&D 1e D&D 3.5e regarding D&D 3e D&D 5e regarding all previous editions. Then it gets tedious just trying to make it work. 8

My old group ran several campaigns using a mix of 3e/3.5e and even PF characters for several years. The biggest "house rule" we had to make was that PCs had to be created completely within a single edition. So no creating a 3.5e character and using the PF feat description, for example. Of course, we only had one player who liked to optimize characters, the rest of us payed less attention to the rules and more on the DM's stories.
Pegazus
All this makes me happier that I only paint (stop laughing; that’s theoretically true). Weirdly enough, I still have 3.5, 5, and PF. Bought as references for painting.

Although I gave up the game after 2.0 came out, dabbled in 3.x and 4 (actually liked the abbreviated rules) and finally threw in the towel at 5 and switched to other game systems. I have, over the decades, mostly bought minis to paint. I briefly worked for WotC in the period just before and after they were bought by Hasbro, and they were mostly good people who loved gaming and loved the game. IMO, the bad decisions all come down from Hasbro execs who are focused on dollar signs, not dice.

We were very fortunate to live in suburbia close enough to Los Angeles to be able to aim a roof top mounted antenna at Mount Wilson, the site of all the TV Transmitters for the Los Angeles Basin and "pull in" a decent signal. It was all Black and White until we were able to afford a Color Television {!!!} in the mid-60s, right about the time the networks switched to all color broadcasting. We actually had Two TVs!!! when the color set was acquired, [which needed a larger and more complicated antenna to work well with color], a huge piece of elegantly crafted furniture that incorporated a 21" television, an AM-FM radio and a Record Turntable, made by Admiral and including their demonstration LP to promote their "Phantom Third Channel" stereo system. In work related news, I got two emails today from coworkers announcing they are leaving the company for another. Must be the first of the year. Oh, right. It is. Took it as a sign to check the current job search emails, but nothing of interest.
