We're getting a big influx of spammers lately - if y'all spot any, please report them so we can drop the ban hammer. If you don't know how or need a refresher on how to report a post:

Click on the ellipsis at the top righthand corner of the post:

image.png.5a5cf049a6ba8acb342234ea6d8bb085.png

From the list that opens, click on Report:

image.png.d609950b956d2be8694f9dd6c46abf63.png

This will open up a popup that looks like this:

image.png.c4eee55382ebef5b5b2ed452aee173e5.png

Enter a message if you wish, but you do not have to. Then click Submit Report.

Don't assume that someone else has already reported it, it doesn't hurt anything if we get multiple reports about the same post. It also doesn't hurt anything to report posts that aren't outright breaking rules but that you think look suspicious - sometimes the spammers post something that is meant to look like a real post (they are often unrelated to the topic, or straight copy/paste of an existing post) which they later go back to and edit in a spam link once they think they've fooled us. We don't ban accounts that only look suspicious but haven't actually broken the rules, but reporting these posts makes sure that we have mod eyes on them in case they do.

Thank you for helping us keep the forum safe and fun! 🖤

It is my sincere belief that aerospace should seriously consider getting rid of any computer under the control of any analyst. I’m in a meeting where the project engineer (same guy) is tasking people to figure out if a tiny titanium nub will “woodpecker” enough to lock things together. The conservative hand calc that the experienced loads guy (near retirement) says has zero chance of doing what is being worried about isn’t good enough.

That hand held calculator probably has more processing power in its battery powered plastic case than the aggregate computing power NASA possessed when Project Apollo was up and running.

ugh.  Ex-sales guy of one our distributors owns his own site, and is looking to get direct help to reconfigure something, instead of going through his distributor (and ex-boss).

So I threw the hourly charge at him, figuring he'd balk - instead he comes back asking for an appointment time 15 minutes after I get off for the day (we're in different time zones).

I laughed so hard my wife came into my office to see what I was laughing about.   When I told him I couldn't do appointments that late he came back with "I'm not sure I can get off work any earlier."

Not my problem dude, not my problem.  Call your distributor, he's in the same time zone.

My response would be "So quit your "job".

You didn't find the sock because it has already transformed into a Tupperware lid that doesn't fit any of your containers. ::P:

Both of these problems have a common solution: The Highlander Protocol

There Can Be Only One

In practice:

-buy only one brand, type, and color of sock.

-buy only one size, brand, and shape of tupperware.

Thus all socks will match any other sock, every lid will match any plastic container.

Week continues to be odd.

While I wa on the bus home, someone had a seizure on me.

I held him so he wouldn't fall off the seat.

Glad I was there, or at least someone was, even if it was me.

Been a few decades since that last happened.

My X-acto knife just snapped and the broken blade hit my glasses.

I'm fine,  I just wanted to take the opportunity to remind you all to be careful and use your safety equipment.

Done that before... One time a cutting wheel for my Dremel shattered while I was using it and I couldn't find several of the pieces of it - it turned out one of them was stuck in my forehead, lol. ::D:

What were you cutting when the blade broke?  I'm pretty sure I've never had one break.  Was it a standard blade (#11)?

Sigh, already tired of the new "edition wars". Since most of my online or social media sites have gaming in them, this is all that that I'm seeing in them right now. I guess it's a good time to wean myself off of them for awhile?
