The blacks are very well defined with highlight and shadow while still reading as "black". I really like her skin tones as well.

I agree...this is a perfect example of highlighting done well (on the hair...the clothes...and the skin). The model uses dark colors from top to bottom, but the highlighting still allows for different tones to come through. I love it.
