I've always loved the sculpt of this model. It captures a real sense of movement, which is something I'm always impressed by. I painted it up using color shift paint. Basically, it looks green from one angle and takes a goodish tint from other angles (it's hard to capture the effect in still images, obviously). Overall, I think it came out looking okay. Thoughts and criticism welcomed.

Really like the colour shift idea. The 'dark' scheme is immediately sinister - this ghost has malefic energy

Agreed--the greens are right out of Grimshaw, and the dark yellows make the ectoplasm look...greasy...somehow. It brings to mind oil slicks and bog mummies. I love it!

I think it looks better than just OK.  I don't really have any criticisms but a suggestion would be to do something with the eyes. Maybe a pure White with no pupils, or a really Bright Yellow. Also same with the mouth, some ghostly glow, etc. to show energy emanating from within, would make the overall effect more dynamic IMHO

 

To Clarify, the entire model is just the green color shift or you blended that with other colors.

Good idea (especially the eyes). I may give that a go.

 

As for the process, the base coat was 100% color shift green. I then did a darker green wash to bring out the details and highlighted with the same color shift green. Afterward, I went ahead and added a clear coat (for protection). Unfortunately, it seems like the clear coat kind of dulled the color shift effect somewhat. So, I hit the highlights again in order to let the color shift effect do it's thing at maximum potency.

 

The paints are very fun and I'd definitely recommend them to anyone who is looking to experiment with some new stuff. From the ones I've used, the green seems to cover the best.

Excellent color choices! The dark makes it very sinister; I agree about the eyes, definitely a spectral glow from them would make this pop even more. I did one of these a while back in blues and had so much fun painting it I bought a second one to try out in greens, although I went with more of a glowing ghost effect.

I love the dark theme - it really seems like it’s materializing from nothingness!
