Question, Feb 8th:

What is something cool or fun you learned recently?

That there is a species of insect ( WET) that will allow itself to freeze for about 90% of it's body to survive the Winter.

Question, Feb 9th:

O hive mind, What would be a good name for an invisible dog?

Inix ( meaning Their Eye)

Or a nice little Dutch wordplay on that Xinix ( Zie niks - See nothing)

Argh, that's exactly what I was gonna say, so, uh, I'll go with Fluffy or Fido then!

The Williams F1 team have Duracell as sponsor this year, so they made the air intake look like a battery.  I thought that was clever. (it's apparently been a slow week for me an cool or fun info..... :upside:)

I admit, I had @TGP ask this one for me. At St. John Ambulance, we have a therapy dog program. Our coordinator demonstrates the activities the dogs have to complete to be certified, and when she does this, she holds her hand out like she is walking a dog. I decided we needed to get her an invisible dog. My friend is in Disneyland and I asked her to buy one for me, but we can't gift without a name.

Neighbor Tom named my cat Damnit. So when the cat showed up in the morning he could ask "Damnit where were you?"

That could work for an invisible dog a well, only it would be "Damnit where are you?".

Spook - Spectre - Ghost - Harvey - Crystal - Griffin (?)

…are what the chat commenters came up with during Anne’s morning stream.

(The last one is a little puzzling, griffins are also a type of dog…)

Do I know you?

In the mid 70s, my best friend Timmy H lived up the hill from me.  I’d walk to his house most days to play.  His next door neighbor, Captain Tom, was a retired bar pilot with a cat named Damnit.  I could sense he got a lot of pleasure explaining the name to a pair of 8 year olds, “I wanted to be able to walk around every day and holler where are you, Damnit!  My wife hates it!”

Claude, as in Claude Rains, who portrayed the non-opaque Dr. Griffin.

And that! explains it. (Just because I play a griffin on the internet doesn’t mean I know who else had played a Griffin.)
