Foodstuffs Friday Question, Feb 17th:
What would you like on your dinner plate —three item limit— instead of Brisket, Collard Greens, and Fried Okra? (You may replace 1, 2, or all 3.)

At home, I'd go for tri-tip, spring greens and mashed sweet potato.

If I were going for a collard green-style rather than the spring green salad, I'd make our local version which uses escarole. Usually with garlic and prosciutto, but can sub in bacon/pancetta. Add-ons are usually sliced pickled cherry peppers (another big regional thing, some say it's the only true version), onion, white beans (the beans thing is a war, love or hate). Often topped with parm.

At a real bbq joint, I'd go for the smoked brisket with some fried pickles and hush puppies.

I’m good!  Give me a pint of the local iPA for #4!

Brisket, fried okra, and corn on the cob.

As long as there's a bit of onion cooked in with the greens, leave this as is! That's good eatin'!

Seconded. That's classic southern style dining right there. I am actually eating brisket tonight, but the other two are sadly not on the menu.

Swap out a green salad and pickles for the collard greens and okra.  I do like brisket, and could opt for swapping the greens and okra for "more brisket."

Brisket is good stuff, but, if we are doing BBQ, I would go for ribs, spicy, cream corn & tater-tot casserole a la Opie's (a BBQ place in Spicewood, TX).

They had pots of pork & beans as a free side dish...OH GOD I miss Texas!

Sorry, no pictures. I'm not spending several hours wading through boxes to find the necessary items.

The oldest would be one of many Grenadier miniatures box sets from back when I was a kid. Orcs of the Severed Hand, to be specific.

Yah like Chaoswolf, no pics either.

Oldest - I have no idea. Being in the hobby for well over 40 years you tend to rack up unfinished projects & that goes for my other main hobby of scale modeling.

Newest - There is always a newest with printing off minis for my weekly game to ReaperCon prep, but I did just slice up a plate of my Friday Night Pathfinder character. A skaven, some zombies, skeletons & a crawling claw familiar figures.

Now if I could just start painting things that would be great as well.

Probably my metal D&D orc shaman. It's a great sculpt, but I haven't done fantasy since I don't play Pathfinder or D&D anymore. I've moved on to 40k so that I can have sci-fi unfinished products instead.

Oldest project, from 1984.  I started this kit and it has survived at least 5 moves.  The inside is mostly finished, but I stalled out on the roof and outside trim/paint job.  Not sure where the front porch parts are.

Most recent unfinished mini? As in a singular figure? ROTFLMAO!

I have never had any of these things, though brisket is cow, and cow is delicious.

Yeah, brisket didn't seem to be a thing around here until lately. I've had it a couple of times in restaurants and last summer I had some made from my own beef. Turned out pretty good and I'm wanting to try it again soon.

Umm, brisket can stay, never had the other two so I'd go with corn and some sort of potato.
