In true Nintendo adventure game fashion, you whack the bush with your sword and out pops a question: "No point in beating around the bush. Here's your question. Where is the oddest place you have ever found your pet?" This is based on the kitty in the fridge photo on Randomness.

Question, Feb 25th—

Savory SaturdayWhat belongs on your cheeseburger? (and what things do not?)

My baseline cheeseburger needs mustard, diced onions, sliced pickles, lettuce and probably two slices of cheese.

Question, Feb 24th—

Foodstuff FridayWhat is your 1st choice food (recommended fluid?) if you, or someone, is recovering from gastric illness?

RUM!

More seriously, Inarah probably had the best answer.

@Jasper_the_2nd already came up with a pretty comprehensive list of good cheeseburger toppings, although I'm gonna add dill pickles, since I do like them.

The most important aspect has to be the burger itself, though.

It HAS to be BEEF.

Not turkey, or tofu, or plant matter, or any other nonsense. BEEF.( Bison is also acceptable )

Mustard, Ketchup, pickles (or tartar sauce), mushrooms and Swiss Cheese.

Looking over the other answers I would add onion rings or an onion slice.

Meat must be made out of meat or it is not meat.

Cheeseburger toppings...

Minimum: two pieces of cheese, not necessarily the same kind... Raw onions, preferably sliced not diced... Tomatoes (ketchup if necessary)...

I don't mind lettuce, bacon, caramelized onions, red or green peppers, possibly mushrooms, maybe chili, even potato chips. I prefer them without barbecue sauce or mustard, but if there's just a little bit I'll settle for it. Regular mustard, not any of the spicy or flavored crap, and barbecue sauce must be only mildly tangy.

I WILL NOT eat pickles, mayonnaise, jalapenos, chipotle, buffalo or any other kind of "special sauce" on my cheeseburgers.

Tomato. Any burger needs tomato.

Absolutely no mayonnaise. You put mayonnaise on my burger, you and I are going to have issues. Especially because I'll be needing the advice from previous question about gastric illness.

I'll take any of the following: lettuce, tomato or ketchup, pickles, onion, mayo, mustard, maybe mushrooms or garlic butter if it's the right kind of burger.

Hold the cheese.  Onion rings on the side, please.

Depends on the meat, depends on the cheese, depends on the bun. Edible plastic (looking at you, Velveeta) need not apply. The important thing isn't necessarily the toppings, but the ratio of bun:toppings:meat.

I don't like burgers as burgers. Fast food places are far too greasy, and I can't stand pickled things, tomatoes in any form, mayo, or prepared mustard as a condiment. (A spoonful of a nice wholegrain mustard might be an ingredient in a curry. Though just as often I just use straight mustard seeds.) At home, because I like meat well done, it's always easier to chop it up rather than cook as a burger.  And I'd rather have that spiced and with potatoes than a bun.

Ground meats have their places. I've been able to modify mom's meatloaf to not leave a slick of grease in the pan and a plasticized layer of BBQ and ketchup on top.(namely by not putting any ketchup on or in it). Chopped up ground turkey breast can be cooked as crumbles and frozen for a quick add to a dish. Sneak a handful or two into a batch of stuffing mix and you have budget Thanksgiving. And mixing my favorite bulgogi marinade with lean ground pork is faster and cheaper than thin slicing a tenderloin.

Mustard, dill pickles, grilled onions and tomato. Possibly A-1 sauce if no mustard.

In the NO category, pineapple, cole slaw or "gourmet" toppings...

Medium rare burger with cheddar cheese, tomato, Arby's style horsey sauce, & occasionally bacon.

Question, Feb 25th—

What goes onto it?  (Not all at once, I'm not a savage)

  • Cheese (your choice)
  • Mustard (yellow or brown, spicy or mild)
  • Onion
  • Pickle (Dill, not sweet or bread and butter--those are gross)
  • Lettuce
  • Tomato
  • Mayo
  • Another burger
  • Jalapeño
  • Bacon
  • Onion Rings
  • Fried Egg
  • "Special Sauce"/Thousand Island dressing
  • Ranch dressing
  • Horseradish sauce
  • Tabasco
  • Barbeque Sauce
  • Black Pepper
  • Crushed Red Pepper

What goes into it?

  • Beef
  • Bison (alternate--I found it a bit "gamey" but not overbearingly so)
  • Venison (optional--I've had some really tasty burgers made of a beef/venison mix)

What it goes on?

  • Bun (your choice, as I've gotten older I prefer more whole grains with more "chew" than your basic white bread)
  • Nothing
  • Lettuce
  • Tortilla (emergency substitute)
  • Bagel (emergency substitute)

What doesn't go near it?

  • Fungus
  • Ketchup (although it's often easier at fast food place to just accept it)
  • Avocado
  • Doughnuts

I like my cheeseburger pretty basic so...

A good beef burger between two buns, cheese ( like metioned by others, enough cheese to taste it with every bite)

A little bit of lettuce, ketchup, some pickles and a slice of bacon that's it.

So everything else is a no for a cheeseburger.
