Merliton (Grenadier) Dragon Lords and Fantasy Lords

Some of these have become crazy expensive and hard to get at a reasonable price. I've picked up a few prior of the old 1980's release, posted a couple here i completed, but i think it's nice the folks who currently own this line are kick-starting a re-release of the original models, presumably in White Metal (not lead).

   They are doing a Sea and Giants series which has a lot of the old Dragon Lords giants (I'm missing the Fire and Stone). Also the Fantasy Lords fighting men, skeleton army, and such. Delivery predicted in June. I think some of them are also coming in the original boxes and  artwork, also very collectible by Lead-nuts like me.

   Fantasy lords, these are true 25mm and hard to paint but i still like them just from a completest collectors POV

 

sorry, i had some links up but the rules are very confusing and i don't want to break them, a simple search will find these if anyone is lookng to complete their collection of the vintage stuff

Weird how the prices for the minis on this KS are the same price as they'll end up being on the webstore proper, but I can save money with a bulk order from the webstore.

 

So I'm probably better off waiting for the DL024 Fish Folk to hit the store.

Good point, there are nice discounts on larger orders.  I went pretty conservative, as it's my first KS and just want to get my feet wet.  For 25 bucks i went for the Fire Giant and the "Hell hounds" which look rather silly by today's standards. More like Hell-Terriers, but lovable nonetheless.

    I do like the fire giant, which honestly there aren't all that many that suite my personal taste in sculpting styles.

 

Also, beware that on larger orders they go DHL, which i'm having problems with.  i ordered stuff at my work and got a nasty gram from DHL saying we can't deliver until you give us a copy of your passport with DOB. WTF?  I told them to stuff it and send the parcel back to China. I'm out 10 bucks but they get to ship the parcel 360 degrees   around the globe as a reward for their arrogance.

 

Sorry, rant off, God i HATE large corporations. 

 

at any rate, small orders from Merliton will go Italy post / US postal, and i have had no problems there.

I've ordered twice from Mirliton so far and from Italy to Canada, aside from a long transit time, I've not had issues.

My issues were with Mirliton itself as two of the items I ordered the last time were erroneous, but the owner says he's shipped me some replacements.

 

I'm a bit bummed they're redoing the Encounter At Skull Harbor pieces from the old Fantasy Lords encounters, but instead of having them all together they are split between the solo hippocampus, the "harbor characters" and two of the pirate packs.

not familiar with those, but if Pirates and Nautical stuff is your jam then i could see it would be annoying. Not sure why they did it, maybe to avoid printing the box?

 

I'm just glad to get the Fire giant set without having to shell out $75.00 on ebay

Encounters was part of their fantasy boxed sets, Mirliton's last kickstarter brought back Encounter At The Crypt Of The Warrior King.

I Think there's just a few days left on this one, if you're like me and  the classic stuff is a "must have " in your collection

so tried completing my order and their payment intermediary, ecommerce.nexi.it  triggered a fraud alert on my CC. I called my bank and tried to get them to lift it, and they tried twice while i was on the phone, but this payment system keeps declining me now.

       Any suggestions advice from folks who have been through a similar situation? Mail them a money order?

Finally was able to complete my order using a Visa  instead of Mastercard. I also got the Paladin riding Blue Dragon , the Green Dragon, A Julie Guthrie sculpted Fire giant, an Orc Shaman, and a White dragon(which sadly doesn't come with the female Victim that the original box set came with).

I hear ya, it's an expensive hobby if you decide that there are some models you just "have to have" like i did. for me it was a lot of the vintage metal, and  I think i'm getting close now, probably have about 70-80% of them in house. Problem is for every one i paint i buy 15 more

 

The summer will be good though, when it's really hot out it's a great time to paint indoors in the AC and a wonderful time to  clear coat without risk of fogging
