Rat13
I doubt I'll get to paint tonight but I did promise final pictures of the Prydian figures, so here they are. On the painting front I did start the day by placing an order for hopefully the "proper" green paint. Placing an order counts as progress, right?

Though I certainly appreciate the praise I believe it is just the scale. 15mm seems to be the size that my painting shines.
Rat13
Though I'm taking a few days off from painting that's not to say I haven't been busy. Instead of painting I've been working my way through the rulebooks I initially purchased. Unsure what I'd like to play or what would be the easiest to teach I simply bought all the Ion Age systems. Let's be serious I'll never convince anyone to get into a system but I know I'll be able to talk people into trying a pickup game. The three systems I ended up with were Firefight, Moth, and Patrol Angis complete with it's two supplemental books. Firefight is a squad based game meant to be played at 28mm on a supplied set of boardgameesque tiles. Though an interesting system that supposedly plays very quickly I knew it wasn't the system for what I'm doing. There are just too many choices and actions that can be taken during gameplay that would make it a bit overwhelming for a pickup game. I'm sure I'll play it at some point but I won't be using this system to introduce Ion Age to my local wargamers. Moth also is intended to be played at 28mm and looks to be prefect, exactly what I'm looking for actually. It is a skirmish style game that can scale up if desired, though it is a pure infantry game. As far as I can tell there are no additional (errata) rules for vehicles, battlesuits, or portable weapon platforms. However the system seems fairly robust and gives the players a choice in just how much crunch they want. That being said I believe it will not only play well but be the easiest to teach too. The only change I intend to make will be the miniatures scale, I'll be playing and teaching this at 15mm. Lastly we come to Patrol Angis the true army scale wargame meant for 15mm. Though I haven't finished all three books yet I have finished the core rulebook and about half of Callsign Taranis. Much like Moth Patrol Angis only truly covers infantry (albeit with small vehicles, battlesuits, and portable weapon platforms included) with Callsign Taranis adding in the really big stuff like large vehicles, tanks, and giant batttlesuits. The system itself seems great but just like Firefight I worry about trying to teach it in a pickup game setting. This game is just a little too big for that. If Moth catches on I can see scaling up to this but for now its just too much to expect from someone willing to try a new system. So now I've chosen which system I'll introduce in the spring, its just a matter of getting ready. For now I've got one more force to paint up and a lot of playtesting.
Rat13
My phone just had an update that has more than a few bugs. A couple of these bugs have made it almost impossible to post to online forums, so my updates could be erratic for a bit as I try to straighten things out. With that out of the way let's get into it. On the rulebook front I have finished Callsign Taranis and started the Khanate Return. Callsign expanded force limits and added armor which made for a nice expansion to an already good system. Though I won't be playing it anytime soon it made for a good read. I've just started the Khanate Returns but its not so much a rules expansion as it is an army book. Like a GW codex it contains all the units and rules for a new alien army. I'm looking forward to really getting into it. Yesterday my paint order arrived and I got right to work testing them out; this is also how I discovered my phone issue. First up is Lini Green (89517) on the figure's right side with Turf Green (09481) on the left side. Before the wash I think Lini Green may be just what I'm looking for. Though the pictures are not great Lini Green does look right. However I had one more color to try out, Clear Green (09096). As a bonus I also tried out a free yellow sample on the figure's boot. This green wasn't what I was looking for but I went ahead and gave it a wash anyway. Not bad just not what I want exactly, so it looks like Lini Green is the color for my Yordan army.
Rat13
Not too much progress tonight as I'm eager to get away from the desk and jump into the Predator box set I just picked up. I did want to make some progress however so I base coated everything in Lini Green before starting a movie night.
Rat13
Tonight I managed to finish all the yellow basecoat and the metallics on the knights. Edited March 6 by Rat13 Phone is still adding spaces.

Rat13
Much like last night I had a pretty simple session. I added all the black to their armor, painted their faces, and their hair. There is still a ton of cleanup but the figures at least should be finished next session.
Rat13
Took a few unintended nights off as the week got pretty busy. When everything started to slow down I took an extra night off to spend it with the family. The Dragonball series I ordered arrived so we had a "movie" night where we watched the first few episodes. Showing the family the show proved to be an enjoyable evening but it turns out its not their cup of tea. Lately I've been on a real movie/show streak with the kid but this one was a bit of a surprise. Oh well, its not like I don't have plenty of more shows and movies to share with the kid. Two missing figures from my order also arrived this week. I managed to prep them throughout the week but it was very slow going. Which brings us to tonight which I spent painting pouches, cleaning everything up, and applying a wash to the Yordans. I'm hoping that I'll be able to seal them sometime tomorrow and paint the bases during my regular evening session.
Rat13
Though progress has been slow my first Yordan figures are finished. Tomorrow they'll receive their final pictures as their flock wasn't completely dry by the end of tonight's session. The weapons platform and battlesuits also received a lot of attention tonight. They managed to get all the way to the wash stage by the end of the session. Trying my best to adhere to cannon scheme of the battlesuits and their weapons isn't exactly easy. With only a few pictures (focused solely on the front of the model and in the Prydian color scheme) I had to get a bit creative. I did my best however so hopefully they will look good from all angles.
Rat13
First up are the final pictures of the Yordan knights. Moving on to tonight's session I've got to say it was fairly productive. The weapons platform and the battlesuit's bases received their basecoat and wash. As I waited for things to dry I also started working on the two named Prydian knights (Balthazar and Jerome). In just one quick session they're now fully painted. I'll check them tomorrow to ensure the wash dried properly but I'm confident they're done.
Rat13
I had hoped to finish these yesterday but I simply didn't make it to the desk last night. Too much good Irish food had me in bed pretty early, think like an Irish Thanksgiving meal. Working throughout today however I finished the remaining 15mm figures. The two Prydian characters are also finished. With any luck I'll move on to the 28mm figures tomorrow.
