Lady Tam
You can also try CLR it is designed to take of Calcium, Lime and Rust, thus it's name. You will find it in the cleaning area of the grocery store. LT
rowdymon
I'm not sure how it would work in this instance, but I've always used a can of regular coke, warm, to seperate two pieces of metal that have corroded together... However I think the answer you will be looking for is going to be brasso and some elbow grease. I would guess if you are set on using the dremel you could look for one of those remote attachments and some buffing heads, with brasso on it.. What did you ever find out about their history? This works because of the significant amount of phosphoric acid in most cola drinks. (FWIW, Phosphoric Acid is produced naturally in the body so don't get too panic-y)
Qwyksilver
Yeah, remember the grade school experiment most of us had to do where you put a tooth in a glass of coke and it dissolves the enamel and pulp in about a week and a half or so? Moderator TaleSpinner Posted September 21, 2004 Moderator Share Posted September 21, 2004 The best brass polish I have ever found, believe it or not, is ketchup. The vinegar and the acid in the tomatos takes the tarnish right off and you probably already have it in your fridge. My wife uses this every year on her brass candle sticks. Kheprera
Better than anything else? And generally free? Taco Bell Hot Sauce. You'd be amazed at what this stuff can do. You'll have to soak the sticks in it, though, then do the polish thing afterwards. We used to soak pennies in this stuff while eating to prove to friends what it does to the stomach lining. You'd probably be better off with Brasso.

Yeah, I heard form the compnay. They are Georgian pattern sticks, made between 1973 and 1976, so they are my age. At this point I am going to be disassembling the sticks and then going wacky with brasso once I get ahold of some. Then use my dremel. shakhak
I've experienced what the beans can do but I didn't imagine the salsa held powers of it's own. I would go with Brasso also. We used to clean all kinds of crap with it at a restraunt I worked at. It all ended up shiny and pretty but the smell was killer.
