Problem with Subscribed Topics

Recommended Posts

Since the upgrage, I don't seem to be receiving email notifications of replies to topics that I'm subscribed to. Is anyone else experiencing this or is it just me. And does anyone have any suggestions of anything that I can do to make it run correctly again?

I didn't get an e-mail notification of my PMs yesterday after the upgrade.

Today I noticed in the logs on my linux server that www@eagle.reapermini.com tried to send a message to me, but that domain doesn't exist, so my server rejected it. That might have something to do with it. Or it might be a coincidence.

sorry, I have no experience with this problem. I have no subscribed topics.

I would suggest unsubscribing and resubscribing to them if you haven't already.

sorry,

cher ^_^

thanks for the heads up. I'll need to twiddle some config settings.

Just FYI. I DID try unsubcribing and resubscribing and that didn't help. Hopefully that helps you weed out SOME possibilities Kit.

I'm getting confirmations... If you have junk mail filtering set, you may want to allow mail from www@eagle.reapermini.com, or from the server's IP address failing that. (65.169.21.131) www@eagle is who the server is announcing itself as; that's what it should be using by default, so technically speaking, all is well on my end. That doesn't help you much, however.

There's, unfortunately, no way I can find to masquerade as another user in Invision Board. Hopefully, this workaround will help somewhat.

Is eagle.reapermini.com going to be in the DNS, Kit? I know that my server will reject it if it isn't.

I can always edit my hosts file, of course. But people without control over their own mail server probably won't be able to work around this.

Strike that. I'm masquerading as @reapermini.com after all. Carry on.

Well, I redid all of my settings and just got an email, so it must be working now. I don't know what was wrong. Sorry for the false alarm.

Can you look at the headers being sent and let me know from whence the messages originate?

OK, flynn, www.reapermini.com has no MX record on the DNS, but it is a valid subdomain. Hopefully these will get get by. I see you got one, so my assumption that the subscriptions are once again working for you.

Yeah, it works. I don't think the domain needs to have a valid MX record to get through the filters in sendmail. I think it just needs an A record or a CNAME record.

I checked the headers on one of the messages I got from the board last week, and it was coming from mailman.reapermini.com.

In any event, they are getting through to me now, and apparently to styates as well, so I'd say all is golden.

Thanks.
