QUESTION March 13th.

Are you laid back about little mishaps, annoyances, malfunctioning appliances etc?

Laid back. Sorta.
If one curses and bellows like Edward Teach (the pirate) but refrains from hurling the disobedient gadget into the nearest wall, that is laid back?

Right?

Or do you worry about that/get angry with it till it's solved?

Possibly spikes of anger alternating with looking for workarounds…?

Recently, I was on the phone with SparcTrubble Internet (they call themselves Spectrum but I know better, their real name is SparcTrubble) and the script monkey on the other end of the call told me he’d like to try some things to troubleshoot “my problem”.

I told him my rate for performing troubleshooting on their equipment was $1000 dollars an hour.

It is very possible I sounded “a bit grumpy” when I said that.

I take things in stride...I learned it from The Cat.

I strive to be in the happy medium between the two extremes.

Honestly, while it's annoying for something to break down, I see it as a problem to be solved and try to fix it myself. If not possible, the next step is to get someone who knows what they're doing (sometimes it's a long search).

I used to be a lot more laid back about these kinds of things, nowadays it varies between worried to full-blown panic attack.

My most common phrase is "Oh Well!".  You guess the answer.

I'm the laid back kind of person when it comes to life's little annoyances. As far as I'm concerned no amount of getting stressed or angry has ever resulted in a better outcome or made a problem get fixed faster.

It depends on what you call a "little mishap." If someone scratches my brand new appliance, I get upset because IT'S BRAND NEW!! I didn't spend my money to buy something, possibly the time to install it, only to have it not look new. You can't argue "wear and tear" with me until it's at least one year old. If I damage it myself, then that's on me, but people with clumsy hands and reckless attitudes need not touch my stuff.

I really worry about malfunctioning appliances that have any heating element due to the risk of fire. We had to have the new oven, installed just before Christmas, serviced by a tech because its door-lock feature malfunctioned and wouldn't unlock. We were able to power it down, but lost an entire beef roast that sat in there for three days. All due to a faulty cooling fan. We still haven't used the oven since it was fixed last week.

I guess it a function of timing.  Mostly though I'm laid back.  Look to fix the misbehaving appliance first.  If that doesn't work call the local appliance repair shop.  And if that fails to resolve the issue, then it's time to head out looking for it's replacement.

My life is a series of malfunctions. I spend sooo much time tinkering and fixing junk for the family and large equipment for myself. I tend to not get too upset because most of it isn't critical. I do occasionally get angry, usually when it's designed stupidly or repeatedly fails after fixing. ManvsMini's stove would get me really mad. Most of the time I just quietly fix things but loud noises can be heard if it's awkward to tear apart and reassemble.

Most days it slides right off me - I just move on to a solution.  Some days are much harder, every hiccup making me angry.  usually due to lack of sleep.

Story about Malfunctioning Microwaves and different kinds of people.
late last year my mircowave started turning itself on (lights, spinning plate, humming)  whenever the door was opened.
My mothers microwave was having the exact same problem,  in another state.  We only talked about it afterward.

1. I goggled the problem, decided it was too much work/skill to fix and created the work around of unplugging it when I wasn't cooking with it.
2. My Mother came up with the exact same work around, but then applied the Scientific Method.   She put a cup of water in the microwave, left the door open and left the room for 5 minutes.
then measured the water temperature.    It was not heating the water when open,  ie probably safe.
3. My wife ordered a new microwave.

I used to be more laid back about stuff, but these days I find myself worrying about it.

Roof needs new roofing causing me stress, having to replace the heater causing me stress, etc etc..

I try to tell myself it's not a big deal, people will get paid to do their job and it will be done right or in some cases I can do stuff myself or friends/family will help out.

It always ends well and yet I tend to worry...

I'm generally laid back about it (broccoli happens) but if a lot of little annoyances have piled up I can get to the "angry Hulk smash" phase.

Malfunctioning appliances are DH's problem.  I can do simple testing/unplug/reset type things. He trained as a repair man, and an electrical engineer, so *if* it is fixable he can usually do it.  Unfortunately a lot of appliances these days have parts that aren't meant to be replaced or repaired.
