QUESTION MARCH 14th

Do you meditate/pray and what does it do for you?

I never share aspects of my own spirituality or what forms that may take. I find that to be a deeply private thing.

QUESTION March 13th.

Are you laid back about little mishaps/annoyances/malfunctioning appliances etc?

Or do you worry about that/get angry with it till it's solved?

Most things, I'm the guy who's supposed to fix it, so I've gotten good at relaxing and investigating and coming up with solutions.  Luckily trouble shooting has been part of my jobs for the last 20+ years, so apparently I'm pretty good at it. And youtube is super helpful these days for repairing or finding out what parts you need. For example, I have now replaced most of the stupidly poorly designed components of our Dyson vacuum.

For bigger stuff, I try not to stress and just deal with it as needed.  We have a crack in our foundation that started leaking in October.  The previous owner had had it repaired by some crap company (who does 2 year warranties on foundation repairs??) so we have to wait until spring (ground temp is too cold for the product to bond properly in the winter), remove a small deck (for access), dig out the foundation  and then have an external membrane applied.  Because the good foundation companies won't warranty an internal repair if the crack has been previously repaired, since they don't know what is in there or how it might interact with their product.  So 5-10 times the cost to repair.  Awesome....

I listen to heavy music at loud volumes, preferably while driving.  I find it very calming and relaxing.

I build models and minis, paint, and listen to music.

For the stuff associated with personal spiritual beliefs and/or habits, that's a personal thing I tend not to discuss ^_^

I meditate to relax, reduce stress, practice mindfulness, and increase my personal awareness.

Nope.

I've tried meditating, as it sometimes pops up in the exercise programs I follow, but I can never silence my chattering monkey of a brain for long enough.

First of all I like to say that if any question is too personal it's perfectly understandable to not answer it.

My apologies if this one was too controversial.

Me, I like to listen to music and sometimes try to meditate to ease my mind.

QUESTION MARCH 14th

Do you meditate/pray and what does it do for you?

Muslems believe that Allah initially wanted people to pray 500 times a day, and that the Prophet Mohammad negotiated that down to five. I always try to hold a prayer in my heart, usually one of joy or thankfulness. Christians are advised to be like little children in their faith, and I try to look at the world with all the joy and wonder of a child. There's something to be said about life's simple pleasures.

I had a profound spiritual experience at 14 years old, which has shaped every aspect of my life. I cannot cease to be spiritual. I do belong to a church, but I don't attend all the time, mostly because it's a 45 min one way trip to church. I miss my church friends. I prefer to worship the Lord among his creations. I get cat tail in the face when I kneel to pray at my bedside, but I think he probably finds it just as funny as I do. I will sing hymns when I walk through the field. I prefer to pray out in the yard under the stars. I don't know if I meditate, but I have my sacred spaces where I open myself up and just project love and thankfulness.

When I'm having a miserable day, my faith helps me stay grounded and not let my mind wander to dark, desolate places. It lets me lives simply and joyfully every other time. If you verbalize your feelings and let the emotions with them be expressed, you aren't holding them in. I find it cathartic to tell the Lord exactly how I'm feeling some days.

I’m not laid back at all, heck, I get mad at paint brushes…

I try to channel my fits of rage like a good hulk, and sometimes I do recognize that I just need to step away for a while.  But, that’s the exception.  Usually I monomaniacally pursue the solution at the expense of all reason.  It takes a toll…

I think a part of it is how close it can skirt into modbat territory.  Its a great question, just can veer into "mods have to speak or take action", but it's also one many tend to avoid due to just how.... Difficult (or even messy) such discussions can get.  Thankfully a good amount of people are extremely understanding, it's just that small minority that tends to get vocal or even in your face given the slightest chance that can give many pause.  It can be as divisive (or even more so) than topics such as politics or current events.

For many people, religious and/or spiritual beliefs can mean a lot to them, while for just as many others it's more along the lines of how say the Japanese are with Buddhism, Shintoism, and others (aka elements of it may be a part of their daily routines, but they don't identify as being religious or spiritual).

Don't pray as I'm not a religious person. Wouldn't know to who or how. I do use some meditation techniques to clear my mind and help concentrate sometimes but haven't really been able to achieve the proper state to call it true meditation.

Generally laid back unless there is a reason not to be.
