QUESTION 20th March.

Dating/trying to meet someone etc...

What's the funniest or best pick up line you ever heard/used/ was used on you?

Did it work?

I don't think I've ever used a pick up line in my life tbh. I know my wife was "Hey wanna go to a "Hootie & the Blowfish" concert when we both single. I mean really, I bought front row tickets & I wanted someone to go with me, ha ha.

I guess it worked, as some 26 years later......

AS for myself, I don't recall anything used on me either. I mean I'm not the most desirable person in the world, so I'm not surprised tbh.

QUESTION MARCH 16th.

Marvel , DC Universe or other ( which one) ?

Which is your favorite and why

While there were a few DC movies I liked overall I prefer the Marvel ones.  When I was young I read Marvel and Image comics, but rarely DC.  Now I read manga and haven't picked up a western comic in years.

I know I've heard them but I can't remember a single one at the moment.

Pick up lines were never my thing.  I would just straight up ask and accept rejection with as much dignity as I could muster.  I didn't really hang out in singles bars, so there wasn't a lot of people seeking to pick up/hook up wherever I was.

I was completely unaware the few times that girls found me interesting enough to try to pursue.  It was like a tank being shot with a sidearm--The tank just lumbers along not realizing it's been shot at until the crew gets out and notices the scratches in the paint.  It wouldn't bother me except that I had been very interested in those girls at those respective times.

As for Mrs. Strawhat, she shot me down in record time.  She said she had a hair appointment that night so I let it drop.  One of her associates at the time gave her no end of grief until she relented and agreed to go with me.  We've been together 21 years.

Interesting shift of metaphor. From Tanks to Planes. Both military, but very different.

Discord and hoopla.  Discord is how our group meets to game, and my main way of interacting with the reaper community.

Hoopla is an app from our library. 15 checkouts per month, music and e-comics mostly, sometimes cookbooks cause I can screenshot the recipes to save them. They have ebooks, audiobooks, tv and movies too.  Now if they would just quit skipping issues of Buffy. They just got 11 and 12, but 10 is missing.  It'll eventually show up, probably.  Or the collected edition will come out. Have plenty of extended Mignola and Gaiman verse books to work through in the meantime.  And when/if I head to reapercon, one 'cd' I can check out is a collection of nearly 400 Grateful Dead songs.  Won't use up the data plan and should last a good chunk of an 18hour drive.

QUESTION March 21st.

These days most of us have a cellphone.

So...

Which app is your favorite/most used/ most needed?

While I have recently joined the ranks of the cellphone user, it's only a very basic one for emergencies and doesn't have apps.

My Chromebook runs off apps though, not that I knowingly use any though.

I kinda stopped understanding technology in the early 00's.

I occasionally use the weather app. I still see the cell phone as a means of communication...the text is nice for us deaf folk.

Considering my line of work, the Highway Hotline app gets increasing amounts of use. Besides that, the IMDB app is essential for getting answers/settling disputes/proving others wrong.

Probably Chrome, Discord, or Telegram mostly likely for most used.

Paint rack is in there too, but definitely doesn't see anywhere near the use of those three.  I don't consider anything to really be needed or a favourite, since updates can swing your opinion on something rather quickly, doubly so since so many updates your choice is update or it doesn't work (and then the update breaks three things that they sort of fix two days later with another update)

Library Thing / Messaging / Library Thing

I use Library Thing to catalog my over 4400 books.  When in a bookstore I check the app to see if I already have the book before I buy it.  This makes it my favorite and most needed.

Messaging is most used.

The best one directed at me was "Are you trying to get me drunk and take advantage of me? Because you don't have to get me drunk." We have been together 28 years now. I'm usually pretty oblivious to such things, but that one was direct enough to understand. My wife says I still get hit on/receive pick up lines all the time. But I can't tell so I just assume she's saying that kind of thing to boost my confidence.

I was about to say it would be one of the various messaging apps. But I have several of those and depending on who you are in my life you get to use a different one. So the actual time spent messaging is broken up among several applications. But I probably use the camera on the phone on a daily basis. So instead, the camera app is likely the most used.
