WEEKEND QUESTION March24th /26th.

If you could choose any job, what would you like to do?

(imagine you do possess the required skills for it)

That's easy. Govenor General of Canada. Travel the world and schmooze. You get paid to do it, too. If I do a particularly good job, I might end up on the currency one day, too.

And! it pays more than being VP of the United States. Not by a ton of currency, but still, more.

$342,100CAD > $235,100USD

Plus, no worrying about taking a hand-off of any nuke codes. Cushy job.

OK, the thing that puzzles me is why the Governor General is not paid in GBP?  He or she is an appointee of HRM but? they get paid in dollars—presumably CAnada Dollars and not British Pounds.

I'd suspect it's because they're a Canadian figurehead - rubber-stamper according to many - working in Canada, for Canada, and must be a Canadian citizen.  So Canadian dollaridoos seems like an appropriate way of paying them.

Someone who gets paid to do NavEx/TSD rallying.  No, not WRC, that's performance rallying, where the goal is GO AS FAST AS POSSIBLE, not "hit this timing point at the precise SECOND you're supposed to be there".  You still go plenty fast in TSD, but the roads you're on are FULLY OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, and of top of it all, unlike performance rallying...  You don't have an actual full on map.  The co-driver is actually the most important member of the team, because not only are they the navigator holding the course notes (including the couple of wrong ones that are thrown in to see if you're paying attention), they're also the one in charge of figuring out what pacing the driver should be going at.

Unlike performance rallying, there is no recon.  You get your track notes day of the event, not a week before.

Yes this is a poorly hidden way of saying I want to get paid to do Targa Newfoundland, specifically the TSD version (I think it's the Grand Tour, can't remember), but yeah.  Huge respect to TSD rallyers, because if you get stuck behind a garbage truck, event organizers aren't going to do anything about it for you - it's considered par for the course.

QUESTION March 27th.

What piece of art would you like to own?

Imagine that you can afford it and that's it allowed/available to you, so anything goes.

McClaren P1. Definitely a work of art.

Maybe a really amazingly painted army for a game a play, but then I'd probably be scared to use it.....
Beyond something like that I think I'd rather art stay somewhere people can appreciate it, instead of it being stuck with just me.

Probably an original Mischa Lenn painting. I love his stuff.

Maybe something by H.R. Giger, but....

...I pretty much agree with this.

There are lots of pieces of old Greek and Roman art stuck in dusty, mouldering old museum basements.  I would love to have a few pieces around to admire. No one else is.

Currently, I'd like some of the models painted by Julia Moshura. Seeing the way she paints patterns is very relaxing, and her work turns out almost photorealistic. Honestly, she doesn't get enough attention for the work she does.

There is a painting by classic Science Fiction Illustrator Kelly Freas.  It appeared as a magazine cover many years ago. It shows two space aliens playing alien chess and a third alien bringing them refreshments.
