Question March 29th.

Do you like to plan ahead or do you take things as they come?

I try my best to take things as they come. Planning ahead drives me CRAZY & keeps me awake at night.

I like to plan ahead.
But I like to build-in backups and contingencies so that I can do the second one as circumstance requires.

It depends on the situation. Also, I try to maintain some flexibility, so even if I plan something out, I can change direction as needs/desires dictate.

Really does depend on the thing.  Larger events I prefer to plan for ahead of time.  I nthe past I used to be all about spontaneous schtuff while also planning, so.... No idea really if there's an actual preference.

I definitely don't like people (or contractors) randomly just showing up at my door though.

Both.  I take things as they come but when there are big things on the schedule I start planning things out.  Packing, Drive Times, Weather, Schedules.

Definitely plan ahead, but with options for when things go wrong. Then if things do go right, we can work that in too.

If I'd know this question was coming, I'd have had a better answer.....

I like to plan most things. It doesn't have to be in detail, but I like to have some sort of plan.

I get ... annoyed.... when someone else plans things that disrupt my plans, especially if it was something I'd put off or been really looking forward to.

It just throws me off and I have trouble adjusting to it.

And I detest people just randomly dropping by. If you can't be bothered to call in advance, why should I be bothered to answer the door?

Have I mentioned I'm an introvert ?  😉

QUESTION March 27th.

What piece of art would you like to own?

Imagine that you can afford it and that's it allowed/available to you, so anything goes.

I think it would be neat to get a hold of some of the beautiful artworks that are in the hands of private collections and never seen by the public. Then once I had them I'd donate them to my local art museum for everyone to look at. One of the first ones to come to mind is Caravaggio's Conversion of Saint Paul (one of two he painted on the subject). It is currently in a private "museum" which basically amounts to some wealthy family's living room. Which seems like a bit of a tragedy for something so beautiful.

QUESTION March 28th.

Do you or did you own a rare comic/trading card/collectible item?

What is/was it?

My wife and I have a small collection of rare and signed books. It has everything from hundreds of year old books I've been able to rescue from family member's collections to old scifi paperbacks out of print for ages and a bunch of signed memoirs and such. Oddly, the most valuable pieces of the collection are signed, first edition Stephen King books. A couple of those are valued in the thousands of dollars, though we've never paid anything close to that for a book.

A Sunday on La Grande Jatte by Georges Pierre Seurat.  I was fascinated by it when the camera work during Ferris Bueller's Day Off pulled in tighter and tighter on the painting to see the details in the the color.

There is a topiary garden in my neighborhood where if you stand on a little hill and look the correct way it looks just like the people in this painting. There's even a little strategically placed pond that mimics the shoreline. I've wanted to go and check out the original ever since I first noticed it. On weekends (often on a pleasant Sunday) the place will be overrun with amateur artists setting up easels and painting their own versions of this masterpiece from the topiary examples.

I prefer to plan ahead. But if I don't then I have no problem rolling with the punches life throws out at you.

Depends on the seriousness of the situation.  Vacations, Reapercon, etc are definitely planned ahead.  I like to know what my options are when things go sideways, because it will.  Day out around town is only loosely planned, and can change according to weather, traffic, and other needs.   I don't mind completely spontaneous events, except other people expect me to know what's going on, where it's happening and when we'll get there.

If I can,  I prefer to plan... usually.

The bigger the event, the more I want at least a rough outline of what to expect. I've never been very spontaneous, but I'm becoming even less so as I get older.

I like to plan, but I find that I need to have flexibility because there usually is something that pops up that throws my plans off.

For instance, I am planning to save all of my money from my next paycheck, but there will likely be a hobby purchase that pops up if I see a sale or a good deal. 😛 Now that is flexibility. 👍
