What really tends to stick for me are the unusual things.  Two that stick out:

in 86 we went to Hawaii.  This was while the original Tom Selleck  version of Magnum was on.  There was a rent a ferrari dealership where you could rent a 308 for $500 a day, and they included a Hawaiian shirt, a Detroit Tigers cap and a fake mustache.

in 2002? when I was in New York, my future wife and I were walking down to Battery Park and it started raining.  It was amazing watching all the sidewalk venders suddenly pull out cases and start selling umbrellas.  It wasn't just a couple, it was like every single one of them, all at once.....

I did a quick google search and my band apparently already exists...... Iron Priest is a tribute band out of Toronto that covers Iron Maiden and Judas Priest..... foiled again!

Maybe if I added an umlaut or 2.....

The Tone Dead. Because I have no rhythm and can't play anything or sing worth a damn. We'd play Psychobilly, because I was listening to some Cramps on the way home today so that's what's in my head right now. I'd say I'd be the lead singer. But that seems unnecessarily mean to anyone listening. So instead maybe I'd be one of the backup dancers.

Iron Wolves.

 

Metal and a bit of Psychobilly and early Punk.

We would not hesitate to cover Abba or Bee Gees in a metal way..

 

Clothing: standard metal outfit I guess.

 

Lots of Wolf and Viking themes.

Well, since we're playing pretend...

 

The Excitable Boys...(mostly) a Warren Zevon tribute band, with the odd dalliance in other genre's, but tuning things up with thrash/speed/groove/power metal styling.  Also the occasional mash-up a la Bill McClintock.

I've always imagined that there's room in this world for a James Gang cover band that also does a little early Iron Maiden and Sabbath.  The "in" joke name would be "Running Unlicensed."  Why?

Given that this thread will soon be relegated to the dustbin of history, I'll inflict my answer to my own question...

 

My band name would be "Running Unlicensed." Why?  It's a reference to the IM classic "Running Free" (always a little frustrating to play because you have to detune to stay with the album version).  The second part?

 

Back in the late 60s, there was a drummer out in Cleveland named James Fox.  He formed a series of bands, and eventually found success as a power trio when he lucked into a virtuoso guitarist, songwriter and super funny guy, Joe Walsh.  That band was known as the James Gang, and they wrote some of the catchiest tunes in rock history.  Eventually Joe Walsh decided to move on, joining the Eagles as they were preparing a small collection of songs to explain the California diaspora... Hotel California.

 

Anyways, James continued with the band life, never really achieving the same heights.  As time passed, he cultured his other interests.  One of those was his long standing interest in license plate collections, and in 1994 he released the definitive guide to license plates in the USA:

 

 

So, I think a band doing covers of the James gang should acknowledge their history...

We'd play metal.

Clothes would be standard metal 'uniform'---jeans and leather.

My parrot, Puk (RIP), loved popcorn.  I always gave him a share in what we called the Puk Tax.  One day, I made a huge bowl of it, gave him his share, and sat down to watch TV.  Puk decided that he needed more and out of nowhere dive-bombed the bowl.  He completely submerged in the popcorn and then cam e up, spreading his wings throwing popcorn everywhere like he was in a fit of manic glee.  I miss him a lot, it's been 5 years since he died of old age.  I still sometime instinctively set aside the Puk Tax when I am cooking, only to remember that he's gone and get a bit sad.

Full time Sculptor/Jeweler.  Skills are mostly in place (though still learning on the jewelry side).  Long term plan is to take this full time in 5 to 8 years as a retirement career.

Any good condition 17th century swept hilt rapier.  Actually, I would take any good condition European sword from the 17th century or earlier.  I have several Asian sword in that category, but no European ones that aren't reproductions.
