QUESTION March 6th.

What's the best thing you ever found in a garage sale/thrift store or an (online) auction ?

I wouldn't call Kmart a thrift store, but since I don't really buy anything from thrift stores, I guess it's all I got. When I was into NASCAR & the various collectibles that go with it. I came across not 1, not 2, but 4 sheet-metal cars from Winner's Circle of Jeff Gordon. These were 1/64 aka Hot Wheels size diecasts cars with an actual piece of the real car used in a race at one time.

They were like 4 or 5 bucks a piece. I sold them each on bay of E for between $110 to $150 buck each.

Normally these things are like 1 per case & even if they get on to the shelf, thanks to greedy store employees knowing what they are & snatching them as they open the boxes or someone else  getting it before I did. Finding 4 was unreal.

Is there a show/concert/movie/play etc.. that stuck in your memory for a reason?

Why? Good/bad memory?

Which/what one?

Can you share pictures of that?

Live Aid, JFK Stadium, in Philadelphia, Saturday, July 13, 1985  Why?  It was Live Aid.  Good Memory, Many Memories of that day.  I'll see if I can scan some pics from that day.

Is there a show/concert/movie/play etc...you regret not attending/seeing?

Why?

Yes 90125 tour, It fell the night before the first day of high school Senior Year.  Couldn't convince my parents that going was a good thing.

Is there a show/ concert/movie/play etc.. you're looking forward to in the near future? Which one?

At this time nope.  But the Future will tell.

Not too much, my wife is both better at that sort of thing and much more into it.

I did find a nice recliner for her (we don't buy new furniture, the 4 cats remove all value from them almost instantly) for free on a FB site last year.

I don't really thrift or go to garage/estate sales. I'm not a big fan of shopping in the first place. So adding in having to go through bins or boxes of other people's stuff is just a non starter for me. My wife enjoys that kind of thing though and has added several unique items of art and furniture to our home over the years. And dear god it is all ugly. I would throw it all out in a split second if I thought I could get away with it.

I picked up a nice hard bound dictionary for a dollar at the Oak Ridge POA yard sale. Since this is the only thing I ever purchased from a yard sale, it is the best.

Haven't been garage sailing in decades but used to find good stuff. I have a nice collection of Depression Glass picked up for .10 -$1 per piece.  30 years ago I paid $20 for the large computer desk I am still using.   My best find on Ebay was Reaper #10001 The Druid's Stone for $10, NIB.  At a thrift store years ago I found a big bag of collectible dollhouse kits, I paid about $1 each for what was then ~$200 worth of kits, which now sell for $10-$75 apiece.

Oof, lotta good stuff...hard to decide.

I've told this story before, but when I was about ten or so I picked up the first paperback edition of Lord of the Rings for 50 cents each at a yard sale. When I bought them, the guy who was having the yard sale brought my father and I down into his basement and showed us his signed copies of the first edition hardcovers:blink:

I found a perfectly complete Talisman 4th Ed. game at the Goodwill, once, as well as a shrinkwrapped 2nd. Ed. TSR1123 Dungeons & Dragons Adventure Game that I ended up selling to another forum member.

I also found a small plastic kittycat that I repainted as a birthday present for @OneBoot...

Other than that, I've found plenty of good books, movies and full seasons of tv shows for damn good prices...

An original Deities and Demigods with C'Thulhu Mythos and Melnibonean...Of course, that was over *muhphernafur* decades ago.  I sorta wish I had kept it.

Very introverted.

I wouldn't say I'm comfortable with it, more that I've accepted that that's who I am, I'd love to become more of a people person if I could.
