Probably going for Adept, since that's when the SSG's kick in, and it covers most of the new content.

My KS budget is pretty high, since I'm not spending money on other leisure, though.

Shipping's also gonna be high. $45 for Adept to USA. About the same price as the CMON KS. 😞

KS starts April 11th.

Currently painting terrain from the previous KS, and the details are very good.

Still no sign of which add-on has that lady!

Honestly, wish I could just get some of the stretch goals I've seen. And maybe a couple of things here and there in general. But that's obviously not going to be an option. So I'm on the fence.

I'll probably just pledge €1 to get access to the PM, and go from there.

I hear you. I think Reaper does the "multiple copies of one miniature per mold" thing, so can sell miniatures individually in blister packs. Archon went for the "sprues", which can hold multiple miniatures on a single mold. The mold costs per unique miniature is, I figure, cheaper on the sprue, but that means customers prefer all the miniatures on the sprue be of a similar theme, such as the tree sprues, terrain, and miniatures of the same faction or class (cf. Osprey's interchangeable Wizards sprue). So, not surprisingly, Archon sells boxed sets, where each set has several sprues of a similar theme. (That said, in a KS, you're usually buying themed groups of miniatures regardless of how the miniature made). If you like only some of the miniatures in the set, you're out of luck.

I think Archon's sets should have been faction based, at least, and Archon's focus on a miniatures skirmish game rather than 5e rules. Reaper Bones KS add-ons are more tailored for RPG's. You had the option to buy subsets of the core, and these subsets were only the handful of miniatures you'd need in an RPG. When you're selling 45 miniatures, that's better for factions, which are better for miniature games over RPG's.

fwiw, When Archon was selling the same sculpts as Unicast miniatures in resin, the miniatures were packaged individually, though I assume more expensive. Thus guy should look familiar if you backed D&L4. 🙂

Set your clock for TOMORROW 11 AM PST/ 2 PM EST... Dungeons & Lasers ® V: World of Deuslair 5E is LAUNCHING! 🚀

Don't miss your chance to pledge early! All backers in the first 48 hours (starting from the Novice pledge) get an Owlbear Family mini as an Early Bird bonus reward!

DaveC from the Archon AMA: "SG and SSG add ons will only be available in the PM and may cost more than the €59 initially quoted if they get really big.

SG in the PM: €59+

Novice: €89 for SG, Core, and Add-on. Marginal cost of €30 plus shipping for core and add-on.

SG+SSG in the PM: €118+

Apprentice: €148 for SG, SSG, Core and Add-On. Marginal cost of €30 plus shipping for core and add-on.

Archon SSG previews showed a Dragon Turtle boat, and surfacing Kraken. Reaper Bones KS Dragon Turtle sold for $15, and underwater Kraken for $15.

Even if you're not sure about the core, might as well pledge Novice or Adept because of the marginal cost of the rest of the pledge. Remember to post each day that you want to trade the core for one of the add-ons. 😛

It's a lot of minis for the money, but most of the stuff just isn't what I'm personally looking for. The stuff I want is the stuff that's in the stretch goals.

Depending on the price, I might just buy the stretch goals separately, and nothing else. The White Eyes Dunes is the only addon that is particularly interesting, but I don't need any of the minis in it. And the core set just isn't for me, either. I would've loved to hand pick some of the minis in it, but that's not going to happen. If the price for the stretch goals are so high it makes little sense to omit the other minis, then sure, I might do an Apprentice pledge. Or I might just drop the entire thing. We'll see.

This KS feels more like a wargaming miniatures KS, but the books are for D&D. A bunch of army sets. It feels like the books included should've been a wargame system. But then the stretch goals are mostly D&D related. It's really weird. Like they took two ideas for KS campaigns, and mashed them into one.

Agreed. I suspect when WotC tried to pull a fast one with their updated OGL, which essentially said that all 5e content could be reprinted by WotC (or something to that effect), it disrupted Archon's D&D side of the project, as well as 5e content of quite a few other companies. So Archon decided to put the D&D content into the SG's. : https://www.washingtonpost.com/video-games/2023/01/19/dungeons-and-dragons-open-game-license-wizards-of-the-coast-explained/

SSG and SG will be available in the PM for 59EU, or more, depending on how many are unlocked. Pledge a 1EU! 🙂

Speaking of mashup, in the SSG's, they shoved a dragon and a tree together, along with a giant lady, fae, and two extra arms to be on the safe side. Well, at least we know where that lady miniature they showed us three times is! 😛

To those who have gotten their stuff before, what kind of quality are their minis? I'm not 100% sold on this one yet -- and I'm not sure why. This seems like it is up my alley... but I'm yet to be convinced.

I mean, what $100 for a Novice, right? (And $30 more for S&H eventually.)

Yeah, that's a good point! And yes, I've put in a euro. ;)

If they're at €59, I'll get it. If it's over €80, it really depends on what the stretch goals will be. But so far, I do want the airship, the kraken, the clock mimic, and the previewed dragon turtle(if the ship on its back is optional). The four armed fey giantess would be a nice addition, but not one I'd go out of my way to get.

I've only done their previous one, Encounters, but it's really good! It's not the highest quality, but it's certainly high quality.

And even though they've rectified my main issue with the humanoid minis in the previous KS(too small, so now they've increased to 32mm scale), I'm also not quite sold on this. To me, it's a lot about not really being that interested in 95% of the minis in the core and addon sets. Because I personally don't have that much need for more humanoid minis.

Hard plastic, easy to file (or cut with a hobby knife) to remove mold lines and sprue attachment points.

You can also ask on the D&L Fans FB page, as well as see Legacy Encounters. Click on the Recent media to see the stuff up close! : https://www.facebook.com/groups/2418164861823205/

They’re really excellent. The miniatures destroy their artwork by comparison. This one I got from a couple of KSers ago.

Struggling a bit with this one. As always, great value prop if you count sheer pile of plastic but I'm not especially interested in duplicate poses (even semi-duplicate poses) and the way the goals are split up means getting a lot of chaff with my wheat.  Stretch goals are sweet though.

At present here's what I'm liking in each box...

Core - magic smith, magic smith apprentices, ca;arak, stone wards.

Sea and Thunder - Ca'arak, jellymaids, rock bees, sea harpies, fire wyrms, young kraken

Beastkin - ...maybe the tetsuda?

Armies of Deuslair - Mahazeal, gorgers, gourmet

White Dunes - Lamassu, sandwyrm, lamia, efreets

Good point -- coming from an RPG and miniatures gaming background, I didn't notice the dupes. WALK IN FORMATION MY MINIONS! 😄

Anyway, SG update in a few hours, as all on the campaign page have been UNLOCKED including fae snu-snu. 😄

Stretch goal graphic updated!

New SSG is the wingless, long dragon thing we've seen previewed earlier.

Regular SGs have passed the Gelatinous Cube, which was the one after the Yeti, and three new ones have been shown: A weapons sprue, and two weird, but humanoid monsters.

The "Mimic Dragon" isn't really doing it for me, personally. But at least I really hope the half corpse it's holding is completely optional.

The newly revealed stretch goals are also not as interesting to me. Just looks like some minis they couldn't fit into the regular sets, but since they'd already sculpted them, they may as well use them. (Which is further supported by the fact that these are pictures of the 3D models, and not 2D concept art. ::P: )

For those not able to read the blurred text, it says "Encura Outcast". (There are Encura Soldiers in the "Of Sea and Thunder" addon, so you can see what they look like. Sort of Salamander like.)
