International shipping is out of control

Recommended Posts

I went to order half a dozen minis from Reaper for an up-coming Call of Cthulhu campaign, and the cheapest shipping option they offered was about $US90.00, roughly three times the retail cost of the miniatures themselves. That's just not sustainable.

Can this really be the cheapest available mailing cost to New Zealand from the USA? If so, then I guess that's about it for any commerce between our two countries.

Shipping costs to that part of the world are at an all time high right now.  It's not really anything Reaper has control over.  There are alternative options, but you'd have to contact customer service to discuss them.

I live in the EU, since the Brexit and new shipping fees from USA etc... I have stopped ordering from outside the EU.

Shipping costs are that ridicilous, I even can't send forum friends some stroopwafels anymore, the costs would be out of balance.

To solve any World Problem just vote for your local WOOF Representative.

Yeah, shipping prices are unreal just now 😞

I don't know if it's allowed, but have you tried some of the other Reaper stores? There are several now, and they might be cheaper shipping wise.

The only other suggestion I have is to see if there's a local reseller. I used to buy mine from a reseller in the UK before Reaper opened their store here

Try Aetherworks in Australia - they are the distributor for Reaper in AU/NZ

I feel you pain Mojo, it's brutal atm. You could try adding/taking things out to see if you can bring the cost down - the cheapest shipping for me is 36 USD - for less minis/ lighter minis.

It's not Reaper's doing, it's the world shipping cost in general- but that's not helpful to you.

Aetherworks is not my preferred choice - shipping is still high, 0 customer service, and I's never had a great experience with them (and you won't get the free minis). The new shipping reality has curbed my mini buying a lot this year. I suggest checking online Aus/NZ shops and your local games stores - mine (in Perth, W.A) can order in for me when I give them the SKUs, and I skip the shipping costs.

If you haven't already, you could also get into the Reaper Challenge League - it's what I do, and I use the credits to save up and eventually cover shipping that way.

No easy solution, but hope it helps!

If you set the currency in the store to AUD, should orders done that way be shipped from Australia? I'd imagine that would offer cheaper shipping to NZ than the US or UK Reaper stores.Probably still an arm and a leg, mind, but at least you'd get to keep two limbs.

Ships from Aetherworks - which has no freebies/new minis, terrible customer support, and yep, shipping is still rough.

Also, there has been zero restock if you click the AUD tab on the online store for months. Aetherworks also marks stuff way up, sells the "free" minis usually as "limited edition" and are just ugh!

I order stuff from the US all the time and yes, shipping has gone up but it seems extremely high from Reaper. There are a couple online retailers in Australia that carry Reaper minis that might ship to NZ. I order paints from Tabletop Empires.

I thought about ordering a model kit tonight from a retailer in Japan. The price was pretty good, like $26 bucks, cheaper then anther place & more importantly, in stock. I did a test checkout & the cheapest shipping option was $28 dollars.

Do I really want this kit?

Beats the shipping costs HLJ was offering me.  We...  Won't comment on those prices, they were almost as high as the claimed free shipping threshold for Canadians from Reaper...  For a single kit.  Yeah, it was a big Kotobukiya kit, but still.

Mine was an Aoshima Airwolf helicopter kit. So not really that big overall. It's a limited edition kit & I remember having it thou as a AMT branded kit back when I was kid in the 80s. It would be nice to have again. I'm just not sure it's worth that much too me.

If it helps make the decision, the Aoshima kit is a new tooling and not just the old AMT one in a new box.
