Question, Thursday May 11th.

Do you have one particular favorite chair you use? (for painting, for work, for watching tv, whatever)

HR: Message HR immediately or sooner! (Hoping you already have…)

CHAIR: I once did.

But (in various ways) they are all broken,  and I am broken, and all of them now hurt me one way or another.

I am very, let's say, 'plump', and have killed many a lesser chair through careless use.

My hobby chair has lasted forever, but it's a padded metal folding chair.  So kinda indestructible, but not super comfy.  I think I'm older than it, but not by much.

Have a lazyboy recliner in the living room.  It's quite comfy, good for reading and naps. It's wide enough I can sit Indian style in it when the foot is down. It is where mom's chair had been before we got rid of a bunch of furniture, so there is sometimes some disorientation when waking up if I've fallen asleep.

I use my computer chair for painting too, and I do like it.  But honestly, I don't think much about chairs one way or the other.  I used to sit on a stool while painting miniatures, but I am glad that is no longer the case.  Years ago, I had an old couch that I really loved, but we only had room for one couch and my wife likes nice furniture so I gave it away.  No other couch or chair has ever come close to it in my heart.

Question, Thursday May 11th.

Today is my first day back in the office since I had my back surgery.  I'm currently seriously missing my awesome desk chair at home and remembering how the office chairs do not work for my back. And trying to decide if I should message HR about the ergonomic assessment now, or after work today.....
Anyway, on to the question.  Do you have one particular favorite chair you use? (for painting, for work, for watching tv, whatever)

My office chair at home was once good, but it's getting worn out. The mesh office chair at work is surprisingly comfortable, and I'm hoping that once they decide to update the furniture I'll be able to snag it for myself.

Question, Wednesday May 10th.

As I sit here trying to get my 3D printer to print, you know, like it was 10 minutes ago, and ponder the actual meaning of "self leveling" since it doesn't seem to mean what you'd thing, what piece of modern technology do you use, or would like to use, that you find frustrating in one manner or another?

The toaster.....

I kid, thou I will admit, I never have understood, why a toaster of all things needs to be wifi enabled or have an app attached to it....

I think out of the tech that I own, it's probably my fdm printer (CR-6 from Creality). I took to resin printing so much easier & faster then I have filament printing. I just can't seem to get the hang of that piece of tech. I'm gonna try & fiddle with it here this year, as I really wanna print stuff on it. Just not right now.

Tbh, I don't have a favorite chair, but if I have to pick one, it's probably the old puffy computer chair my mom gave me. It sits out in the garage & whenever I'm sitting there, I'm either running D&D on Saturdays or hobbying.

Funny thing is when she gave it too me I was like umm I don't really need this & so I just tossed it outside near the "take to the dump someday" trash heap. I'm glad I reconsidered.

My favorite chair is whichever one I happen to be sitting in (and can hold me without pinching) at the time!  If there's adequate cushioning, so much the better.

The chair means less to me than the quality of the lighting.

I do have a "regular" chair for watching TV, but I wouldn't call it a favorite.

Question, Friday May 12th.

Toast, where are you on the scale from "slightly warm bread" to "charcoal"? Or do you even toast?

And if you toast, is your toast wifi enabled and does it have an app?
If it isn't, does your adjustment knob, slider, etc actually seem to do anything?

Don't eat toast much anymore but I like it a nice golden brown, middle of the scale. The fact that so many simple household products have wifi nowadays is one of my pet peeves. No, mine isn't connected and I see no reason for it ever being connected. Skynet's not gonna kill me in my tub with my own toaster.  On our current toaster the adjustment is a bit of a pain. It goes from slightly crusty warm bread to smoking black too quickly.

Another middle of the road type here. That said, I don't generally make toast.

No, it is an old fashioned toaster; no wi-fi/app shenanigans for me.

The adjustments work fine.

Just slightly burned and crunchy. Not so much that you taste the burned parts, but definitely enough that I don't wind up with soft, limp bits of toast. Nobody likes limp toast. Our toaster is a pre internet behemoth that wants to make everything above setting five (out of ten) burned like charcoal. But hey, at least it's not gathering any personal information on us. I usually make my toast in the toaster oven though. I like the little grill marks it leaves on the bread. The toaster oven is also unconnected to any internet.

I like my toast on the lighter side.  Anything from a slight blush of tanning to a medium tan.  I toast, sometimes for sandwiches sometimes to have toast with butter.  Salted Butter.

No, No WiFi enable toaster in my house.  If I could find the one of the classics that is rated the best toaster of all time I would buy it.  Sunbeam Radiant Control Toaster, sold from 1949 all the way through the late ‘80s. (It goes by many names, including the T-20A, T-20-B, T20-C, T-35, VT-40, AT-W and even the 20-30-AG.)

The knob seems to work appropriately. 2 delivers my toast as desired.  Although if I fail to check it I get darker toast from my wife's desire for much darker toast (3 & 4).

The toaster is not smart or connected.  It's mostly set for English muffins, which I like nicely brown and crunchy.  Any more, with chipped beef on rare occasions. It does not necessarily succeed in getting them that way in one go, but two is often too much.  Dad has toast more often, normal bread toast, and ends up with it browned to blackened because he doesn't change the dial from the last time English muffins were made.

Light to medium toasting, so it has some crunch, but center is still reasonably soft.  Or in other words, warm enough to melt butter I put on it, and then also melt the cinnamon/sugar mix that goes on top of said butter.

My toaster is definitely not smart in any way shape or form, and in fact one side died when I last cleaned it so it's a two slice toaster now.  Thankfully there are still plenty of "just stick bread slices in and push down on the handles" models out there.
