Toast, where are you on the scale from "slightly warm bread" to "charcoal"? Or do you even toast? And if you toast, is your toast wifi enabled and does it have an app? If it isn't, does your adjustment knob, slider, etc actually seem to do anything? Medium Tanned, preferably with cheese that melts on it. WIFI enabled Toasters??? In other words, no AI is going to mess with my food! Edited May 13 by Glitterwolf
Jasper_the_2nd
Sorry about that, I woke up with the urge to go to the local all day breakfast place, so off we went and ended up running errands until about 4 pm, by which time I'd completely forgotten about doing a question.....so Question. Saturday, May 13th. Have you completely forgotten to do anything lately? and so it doesn't happen tomorrow....Question, Sunday, May 14th. It's Mother's Day, at least here in North America. On your Mother's Day do you plan to, or did you plan to, do anything special for your mother, or your wife or significant other? Do you have a tradition or do you wing it every year?

ejala
I forgot to freeze the leftover curry in time. The spicing was kinda off, but it was edible. Oh well. Mom died four years ago. I don't necessarily do something for dad as a substitute. The first mother's day ads of the year still hurt like a slap to the face, but didn't have crying jags at every sale this year. Progress? Now my throat is all tight and funny and watery eyes. So not lots of progress. 7

There's always stuff to do around here. Quote Question, Sunday, May 14th. No plans related to the holiday. We have a community dinner on Sunday evening however.

I'm pretty good at setting reminders or leaving notes so that I don't forget. 2 hours ago, Jasper_the_2nd said: Question, Sunday, May 14th. It's Mother's Day, at least here in North America. We don't do a lot of planning for Mother's Day (or much else) because they inevitably fall through for one reason or another. So it's mostly winging it. No idea what we are doing for her this year, but I did manage to go out and find a gift and card today.

Both my wife and my mom have passed on, so there are no traditions tomorrow. 1

About a week ago, my entire family managed to forget to bring a leftover half a pizza in from the car after we ate out. I remembered it the next morning, but it was too late. I don't plan to do much this Mother's Day; since my Mom passed away last fall, the holiday makes me sad. I told my older kids (15 and 13) that it was up to them to plan out some nice things to do for their mother; they are old enough that it does not need to be my responsibility. (I did buy her a pie, though, because she loves pie.) 12

Going to bed on time sounds like an appropriate thing, then again, since I'm on short term leave until I can cough up a bunch of cash to get a bunch of paperwork filled out I suppose it's alright that I let my body just sort of follow it's natural sleep schedule. That and hey, I'm recovering from a few different things, and this is letting me actually sleep, so I'm calling it even. 5 hours ago, Jasper_the_2nd said: and so it doesn't happen tomorrow....Question, Sunday, May 14th. No plans at all, although I might answer my phone if it rings and I'm not buried face first in my airbrush booth, or am busy sculpting or something like that. Mom's a province over, so it's tough to really do anything - not like I have spare cash for something like such anyways.

Q13: Yes, I'm sure I have. Q14: Unfortunately, my mother is 2000 miles away from me, so we can't do anything together. I will be giving her a phone call later on, though. For my wife, I will be be making home made spaghetti sauce today so we can have spaghetti for dinner this evening. We will also spend some time playing board games as per her request.
Corsair
Mother's Day? We have lost both our Moms and never had kids of our own, so it is a bit different here. However, my Missus has already been getting messages from our Nieces and Nephews telling her how much they love her.

That is what Old Men are required to do. I give/send my daughters-in-law cards & some $s as a way of thanking them for all the Grandkids & pets. I'll text my Ex to thank her for our kids. My Mom has been gone for quite a few years; I still miss her & will until my heart ceases to beat.
Evilhalfling
May 13th & 14th Called my mother yesterday, arranged summer visit dates, talked for more than an hour (like we do) Family, farm life, politics, social justice, gender roles, Napoleonic history completely forgot to wish her happy mothers day. On your Mother's Day do you plan to, or did you plan to, do anything special for your mother, or your wife or significant other? Do you have a tradition or do you wing it every year? Well, I'm only a mumsy to two wonderful fur babies. But my sister, grandma and Mumsy are coming out for ham dinner. Usually I'm too broke to buy Mumsy anything, so we have a tradition that I do slave work in the yard all day. One year, I had enough money that we went to the garden centre and bought a may day tree. I call this the Love Tree and the idea is that it is supposed to flower around mother's day. The reality is that it actually flowers in early June, but we both really love it.

Well, obviously. 😄 14th. I'm bbqing. Well, again, I already did for lunch as well. We've talked of going to the show after supper but have held off on booking because the kid may still be having some concussion symptoms (you know how you drop something and instinctively bend down to grab it? He did that on friday at school. Unfortunately he's in training to be an automotive tech, and there was a full sized vice in the way... the emergency room cleared him of any major damage, but concussions can be tricksy). I'll give my mom a call later (I was over to visit last week and will be again in a couple weeks). And give extra support to my wife, as this is the 4th? year since her mom passed.
