Reminds me of that tidepod challenge that was popular a while ago, I can't understand why anyone would put themselves at risk like that. I meant accidentally. There are lots of foods like beef jerky and bacon bits that have them just floating around loose in with the product. 45 minutes ago, Jasper_the_2nd said: Question May 2nd. Today's question is brought to you by a random conversation I just had. How close have you come to accidentally eating one of those little desiccant packs that are in everything now? While eating store bought jerky I've got them in my mouth a couple of times (they like to stick to the meat). Think I've only bitten down on it once, but they make those ones tough so it didn't rupture or anything. Not very found of biting down on plastic though. With the CostCo bacon bits I've come close to adding the packet to my morning omelet more than once. 8 1

I have sighed upon finding them in my food stuffs.

Never come close, not even by accident. I get them in my pill bottles but they are pretty easy to tell apart. Rarely buy things like beef jerky and processed foods that have them. 11

How close have you come to accidentally eating one of those little desiccant packs that are in everything now? No, but I did find one in a side dish one of my cousins brought to Thanksgiving one time. Which really made me wonder what exactly they were using as ingredients. 4 7
ejala
Can't say they've ever gotten close. I've heard you can use the contents as basing material, but never remember to save them. There's at least two or three in one of my monthly meds, maybe I should.

How close have you come to accidentally eating one of those little desiccant packs that are in everything now? Only when they are in non-food products. I'm kidding. I suppose the closest I have come is grabbing one when reaching into the package. But the texture is entirely different, so I can't imagine not noticing it in my hand.

How close have you come to accidentally eating one of those little desiccant packs that are in everything now? Never... because I watch what I eat. *ba-dump ching* Thank you, I'm here all night! For the uninformed, save those, get a jar and put those packs in it, and store your open tube of superglue in it. Drastically increases the shelf-life of your glue. 13 1

I save the little round cannister ones because they are the perfect size for sci-fi barrels. 1 hour ago, ManvsMini said: Never... because I watch what I eat. *ba-dump ching* Thank you, I'm here all night! DH saves the packets that come with non-food items for his PLA 3d printer reels. Apparently if they absorb moisture it's bad...

I'm curious about the texture. Rock hard or kind of squishy? 9

This could be discovered by means other than chewing. Not that I have ever been that curious about desiccant packs. 1 hour ago, Inarah said: DH saves the packets that come with non-food items for his PLA 3d printer reels. How close have you come to accidentally eating one of those little desiccant packs that are in everything now? Years ago I was tempted, but the smell was more than enough, as were all the "do not eat" markings. Asked dad what it was, and he said something along the lines of "won't turn you into a superhero, and won't get you beef jerky or bacon".
