strawhat
10 hours ago, Jasper_the_2nd said: Question. Wednesday May 24th. Is there a tv series, movie, book or video game release that you are particularly looking forward to? Sort of, but not excessively so. I'm looking forward to more from Jim Butcher (Dresden Files, Cinder Spires), and more from The Mandalorian. But those will come out when they come out. Cinder Spires is, I think, due later this year. Dresden Files probably in 2024...or 2025...or.... The Mandalorian S4 hopefully late this year/early next. I'll see the new Spider-Verse movie when it comes to Blu-Ray, this is the way I see most movies anymore. It's the same cost to go to the movies or buy it, so I don't go to the movies anymore ($10+ for a ticket, assigned seats, etc.). The same for Dune 2 and the other Marvel movies as they come out.

There are a few TV shows I am looking forward to new seasons of. 12 hours ago, Egg of Coot said: The new season of Futurama! Wait, is that actually going to happen? Jasper_the_2nd
Question, Thursday May 25th. Today's question is brought to you by my right shoulder, and by the letter F. As I get older pain seems to be more of a constant and less of a "once in a while". So, how are you feeling these days, pain-wise? If you take things to help, are they doing their job? (as always, feel free to share as little or as much as you are comfortable with).

So slow, stiff mobility, with a bit of old-man groaning added in, is expected. The good news is that I know which stretching exercise works, and if I do them before bed, my mobility is far better the next day.

This meme that I shared a day or so ago, should answer this: More seriously, the only major pain that I've had ( my back ) has been a thing for the last 30-ish years, so I'm very used to it. I don't take anything (it won't help), but I'm careful not to overdo things so it doesn't hurt worse than usual. 9

(as always, feel free to share as little or as much as you are comfortable with). So, as we likely all know by now, I'm a bit of a wreck. Had back surgery in Nov, and have been recovering from that. Nerve issues in my left foot and leg, related to the back issues, but recovering (hopefully). So my back is good now. Like really quite good. Sure it gets tired and sore if I over due it, but normal sore. And it gets better, not spiraling into months of physio to get it sorted. My foot still has random nerve pain, but it's slowly coming along. Nothing much touches that pain anyway, so not a lot to do about it. I've been on one nerve pain pill for that, and had one specialist suggest increasing it at night to help with cramping in the problem foot. Then two weeks later had an appointment with my Doc about fatigue as I've been way worse lately, and she pointed out that that pill can also cause fatigue. So now I've ramped it way down. Slightly more shooty pain and cramps, but way more energy. Now I also have some issues with my shoulders, and with physio we've been working on some strengthening exercises to hopefully improve stability in my rotator cuffs. So last week I had a vaccine shot in my right shoulder, which kicked my butt for a day. It also made my shoulder really sore. And since then I've been having nerve pain down my arm when I move certain ways. So I don't know if this is new nerve pain and might be related to when the shot happened, or if this was already there and was being masked by the nerve pain meds. Hopefully physio can give me some relief today as it is really getting annoying, and is my mouse hand, so is impacting my work to an extent.

I have prescriptions that help, my favorite these days is the Prednisone, which I will be taking a lot of this weekend on our little outdoor adventure, because I don't intend to "slow down" any time soon.

I seem to be getting pretty achey and creaky lately (I think being overweight most of my life is catching up with me), but it's not bad enough yet to require any painkillers or anything. The only thing that worries me is the arthritis i'm developing in my wrists and fingers, I'm already getting times when I have to stop hobbying because they're acting up.

I have a knee that's bothered me since highschool varying from intense pain and on crutches to a near daily grumbling. My ankle on the opposite leg has been sprained so many times it doesn't have a lot of strength. It doesn't bother me except when I sprain it again which happens 2-3 times a year. I tend to walk slower and more carefully now than I did even a few years ago. I've also gotten to the age where something else is always hurting with my muscles. I don't take any painkillers unless it's way above the normal level.

I'm still reasonably fit ( 58 yrs old) but I do get some muscle aches when I do something I haven't done for a while or when we have to walk really slow for a long time. Like on a market... I use to walk with a good pace, when I need to stroll I will feel it at the end of the day. I seldom take painkillers, those are reserved for bad headaches when they get too much. One exception of course: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nM__lPTWThU 7

It is at it's worst when I lay down for a long time, then get up to stand on it. After walking or limping it out, it turns back to regular pain. Every now & then, it really want to throb, so who knows. I'm on my feet all the time for work + I'm a big guy, so probably related to that. As far as pain med, I don't take anything for it & tbh, I don't think it'd really help.

It's helped some but not enough. I'll take couple ibuprofen if I worked it to hard over the weekend. I'm almost better come Friday, before trying to keep up with my home life work on the weekends.

It relieved a lot of the pressure while I was waiting for surgery, and helps my wife's as well. Here's a random example of a physio demonstrating it.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyY0Z5PjgYs 7
