How close have you come to accidentally eating one of those little desiccant packs that are in everything now? I've joked about eating them (ie 'Hey look, buy a stereo & get a chiclet packet for free!!"), but never have they come close to my mouth.

It wasn't intentional--the packet was surrounded by yummy-yummy jerky remnants, and I had to get to that! *chomp, chomp, chomp* akk-akk-pthui Never did break the outer seal, thank goodness. And I am more restrained now.

Hobby related, some of them are good for making surface bubbles on top of resin water.

Are you saying the packet contents are sometimes little spheres ? Edited May 3 by TGP

This is correct, they absorb the liquid and expand a little, embedding themselves into the liquid. Great if you're making bubbling ooze or something, I think Vince Venturella has a video on it. 6

Jasper_the_2nd
Question May 3rd. As I'm about to head off for nerve conductivity testing on my leg and foot, have you ever, intentionally or unintentionally, been shocked with electricity? By yourself or by a trained professional? 7

Me and a friend just finished doing a bunch of rewiring upgrades under my kitchen. I am not an electrician at all. As you can imagine, there were several moments where I could no longer feel the tips of my fingers. Thankfully that was just from a 110. We were much more careful when replacing the 220. 11

I've had that test done. It was decidedly uncomfortable, more for the sharp pointy end of the shock stick than the electricity. Pretty sure there were unintentional and possibly intentional shocks in hs physics. Though I didn't leave the TV we were dissecting plugged in like the two troublemakers with the clock radio.

Yes to all possible permutations of the questions. I work with electronics, so I have gotten shocked quite a few times, all unintentionally. I have also gotten TENS therapy for muscle injuries. BTW, if you've ever checked a 9 volt battery by putting the terminals on your tongue, you have to answer 'yes'. 5

Second one for sure. I can remember getting zapped by metal car door handles. 1 hour ago, Jasper_the_2nd said: By yourself or by a trained professional? “…Just because you can jolt somebody with electricity without killing them, doesn’t mean you should…” I think those ^ are Words To Live By. Many times: - Multiple electric fence hits while running a trap line in farm country as a kid - Various high voltage low amperage experiments in Physics classes - A nerve conductivity test in 2018 - Somewhere between 35 and 45 cardioversions (lost count) between 2003 and 2023 for various atrial fibrillation related fixes and surgeries

Yes I have. A few decades ago one of the automated retrieving systems in our warehouse ( Air Force) malfunctioned. Now the Company who built it is a German one and I called them. So with a phone in one hand and a screwdriver in the other I followed the instructions of the professional on the other side of the phone. I do speak and understand German... I opened the console and listened carefully where to put the screwdriver, I was standing on part of the machine which is metal, luckily I wore insolated boots. So.... I listened, put the screwdriver in a scoket to adjust something and then my arm got a hit, my arm involuntary moved to the side with a bang, I felt a tingling and counted my blessings for insolated boots. A voice from the other side said...I think you got the wrong socket, you want the third one on row two not on row one...
