Tra-La its May. The lusty month of May!

Recommended Posts

It is May first

What are people planning on painting this month?

My goals for May are:

  •  Paint a game token from Marvel United
  •  Continue working on some Mithril miniatures
  •  Paint a figure from the annual box.
  •  Paint two more vikings from the stash

    buckyball

Hobby goals for 2023

Painting one large terrain piece each quarter or several smaller pieces. The goal here is to complete enough to use in a game or scenario [Check!]

Painting the 17 miniatures in my annual box  [ 8 so far]

Painting  one game token each month [ 5 so far ]

Painting three Mithril miniatures each quarter. This works out to an average of one per month; but this way I can paint them in batches [ 5 so far]

I also have the unusual goal of not buying any miniatures (for myself) in 2023. I have no idea how I will accomplish this ( 153 days since my last miniature purchase)

I'm going to try to finish :

  • OPR-Jackals
  • AG-Plague Mine Kobold
  • Titanforge and I-Lovecraft Conquistadores.

Maybe even the Galaad Aztec Warrior and Dragon Trapper's Lodge Bobokai Necromancer and African Hyena Handler/Snake Lady.

Carry over from previous months:

-- one last undead wolf

-- Reaper female elf wizard with staff

-- " orrery

-- a shed load of plastic sci-fi terrain

-- the new Owlbear

-- 3d printed eye beast from a friend

-- 3d printed cat necromancer

-- the vampires and hunter from the Ravenhome set  -- probably going to take more than one month to do these

RCL stuff:

-- duo is finished, pick figure(s) for next month

-- need to pick a figure for the 4+

-- one of the IMEF troopers

I'm knee deep in mud and gardening this month so I'll be surprised if much painting gets done.

Slowing down and enjoying the process more. At the moment, I'm enjoying having painted armies and a visible effect from 4 feet away. Not something to be ashamed of, just like reading 10 light books quickly on holiday, instead of crawling through one heavy one.

Keeping on with the Half Pint Heroine KS and painting the ladies Lord of the Rings companions set in particular.

Centaurs.

Copplestone Castings adventurers (from his 1920s range)

I have the 2.0 Speedpaints I've been waiting on, starting soon (hopefully this week) I'll tackle my RCon games. All 6 games worth of minis. ::D:

Also, since this is my last trip down to RCon or at least for awhile (over 2 years at least), I'm gonna try & enter the paint contest with a serious entry.

Finally, while looking at my stl library on MMF, I saw something I thought the main owner of my FLGS would like to have as a present. Twin Goddess - Otter King. I'll be blowing it up 200%, so it's technically a large size mini now. He likes Otters as I like squirrels, so I thought it would make for a nice present for all he has done for me by opening the store in 2018.

May may finally see the completion of the Heroquest heroes.  The four original, the four alternatives, the three new heroes (Warlock, Bard, and Druid).  If I manage to complete those then I will work on the beasties from the Mythic expansion (Dragon, 2 Dread Warriors, Gargoyle, 2 Skeletons, 2 Zombies, Witch Lord, Dread Sorcerer, 2 Abominations, 2 Orcs, 2 Goblins, and anything else I happened to forget).

I know one thing, after powering through the Core I won't be returning to Keller's Keep or Rise of the Witch Lord any time soon.  I'm in no mood to tackle those Orcs, Goblins, and Skeletons again.  The Zombies, Mummies, and Abominations weren't nearly as bad, but I'd rather get some distance and kind of cleanse my proverbial palette.

Goal is to do anything mini related. The last month or so I've been in my hobby space maybe a half hour total. Been reading books, online comics and watching garbage online instead of painting.

Month had a bad start, but we can work with that.  Going with a slimmed down list compared to usual, partially because I'm contemplating a few things, and partially because I know I'm going to lose easily a week to catching up on other things.

- Finish base work preparations for Oleana

- start painting Meirsoa bust (May the Bust)

- continue work on Zaku II for Mecha May

I will set my boring goal of finishing 4 medium sized minis again.  I probably will not get there in May either as I keep sleeping bad due to the knee and I just got Age of Wonders 4 to keep me busy.

I don't know where the month went.  I'm still fighting the war on weeds and critters out back.  It's nearly to hot to continue trying.

Paint-wise, wow, did I finish anything this month?  Camera roll says one IMEF dude got done.

May is in the history books,  and I actually accomplished something!

It wasn't as much as I would have liked, but I did finish the four main Heroquest heroes, the four alternate heroes, Sir Ragnar, and Mentor!

All things considered, that's not bad.

Getting really sick and recovering for three weeks of that curbed a fair bit of my hobbying, doubly so because it hit a lot harder than I realized it would, but I did get work done on the Zaku...  Some of the frame is painted (the rest of it is being prepped as angry kebabs become available), I've gotten some test colours down that I like, and I'm moving ahead on the project itself, so there's definitely that.

Oleana and Meirsoa will see progress in June I hope, assuming a large Celestial Hound doesn't wind up taking every priority for me...
