I just submitted this for the RCL large group challenge.  He clearly fits into the fairytale theme!  His weird musculature made some of the highlighting challenging, but the opportunity to try a stone axe made it rewarding.  
 

I’m trying to push my contrast by focusing more on the dark side, and I can see incremental gains, but it’s still very much a battle against my tendencies.  As always, your comments and criticisms are welcome!

That means I blew it!  I was trying to emulate this sort of rock:

 

I should have stuck with just a few “main” veins and then tried finer lines, but I started to run out of steam…

I like the tones you use in the shadows think they came out nice and well placed. My only comment since your using dark colors for the shadows and only if you have fun and would enjoy doing is to glaze some color into them, i.e. like in this instance say a warm purple or red for a slight tint.

Love your skin and how you highlighted. The axe looks like stone to me as well
