What was the biggest hobby miniature figure you painted by hand with a brush and paints? (Not spray paint, airbrush, "dip", speed paints, or finger paints)

Either some terrain pieces or some medium sized dragons.

Have you ever been so frustrated with or disgusted by working conditions or fellow employees that you just walked off a job?

I've almost always worked with family. There's been a couple times I walked away so as to not say something I'd regret. And couple of times I told them exactly what I thought of them and refused to ever help them again. Just because they're family doesn't mean I'll tolerate !%$&%#$ anymore.

Never walked off mid-shift or anything.

But there were three jobs I could have carried on with but did not.

The rest of the stories…

1) Worked as a temporary painters helper for a guy that hired kids. Our parents knew the guy via church. I was 14? and my little brother would've been 11. It was hot, dusty, hard work in un-air-conditioned rooms. At the end of it, the dude who was paying us below minimum wage because we were minors, paid me more than my little brother because little bro was younger. My brother worked as hard or harder than I did.  When he asked if we’d be interested in a second job (?) that was a giant NO

2) I was working nights and weekends at a 24/7 donut shop during HS senior year. It was a shoe-string operation. For most shifts there was only one person there. The schedule changed week to week, it was Usually published only two days before the week started, and this was pre-internet, you had to go in to look at what was stuck to the wall. They scheduled me to work a Thursday night, but the previous weeks I had been off on Thursdays. I only found out on Tuesday that my name was down for Thursday — it was just too bad I was expected to be at a Cap And Gown event across town that same evening. I told the Donut Shop Boss, by phone, I was not showing up Thursday no matter whatThis went over poorly.

3) I worked at a ToysR-Us part of the time I was in college. But when fall of my Junior Year rolled up, I told them I was leaving. I’d worked the Christmas Season once for them but Never Again.

Not in the middle of a shift,  but I worked for one day at a video rental place.

I called in the next day and said I wouldn't be returning. It was more that the manager hadn't observed my availability rather than it being a horrible place to work. Since I had a full time job already I didn't need another!

I think I may have been overly tolerant.

Disgust, frustration, and bad conditions or wretched co-workers were the norms at every job I ever held… save for one.

Thinking back over career memories, at least one of those downsides was present at every job.

No, but a job walked out on me.  In college I worked summers at Gas stations.  The second one blamed me for a striped oil pan plug and said it would take hundreds of dollars to fix. I went back with my Dad and we showed them it would take pocket change to fix and that the plug might have been striped before I worked on it.  Did not want to go back to work with them.  It was a good call.  They did not send my tax deductions to the IRS or the money to Social Security.

Of the six jobs I had in my life, Two closed their doors, One I was fired, One ended thru graduation, one I left to go to a better job and the last I retired.

What is the best game you've never played?  (In order words, what looks fun or interesting, yet you haven't played)

Oh, there's a lot.

Here's a few:

StarGrave ( I have played FrostGrave and liked it, so I'm pretty sure I'll like this, too )

Kings of War

Rangers of Shadowdeep

So many games could go here.
If we just look at what I have purchased recently (last few years), but haven't played....
Infinity

Infinity Defiance

Marvel Zombies

Polyversal

Star Wars Armada

And that's just with sticking to minis games....

I’m hoping it’s Shadows of Brimstone, because we just got the core set last week, and I just started priming a few of the figures last night!

If not, I suppose there’s always the Glass Bead game…😀

I've always wanted to try Advanced Squad Leader.  I have a couple games I own that I have yet to play including Firefly The Game, and Arena, The Contest.

Dropzone Commander looks tempting, but I have enough various games waiting for assembly and/or painting...  Burrows and Badgers would be fun to try out as well sometime...

Never did get to play Mordheim....

All the games. Of all the minis I collect and paint, I've only ever played GW LotR once. Which is a shame, because it has a really great rules set. I've also played a few solo games of Rangers of Shadow Deep and it is fun! I have rule books for Tribal by Mana Press, Wargods and Frostgrave, FG Ghost Archi and Stargrave. But I haven't played them. I also have a handful of Necrons and their book and the 9th Ed rulebook, but I've never played 40k.

Right now I'm still sorting out my work schedules and balancing working two jobs, so hopefully by winter I can play some games. The one I'm most excited for is Warhammer the Old World, because we know the Egyptian undead are making a comeback in the base set and I will almost certainly find a few opponents at the FLGS. Hopefully it drops by Christmas.
